I've just learned - via eBay of all things - that Fellside is releasing a CD of Bellamy's Maritime Suite [sic], which caused a bit of a stir when a cassette version was digitised a few years ago.

Anyone here know any more? I'd be intrigued to know more about the project of remastering it for CD, which must have been quite an undertaking (if the sound quality of the downloads I've got is anything to go by). Also, I see that the CD includes four more songs than the cassette, which is an exciting prospect. I'm puzzled by the name change, though - was it not always the Maritime *England* Suite?

Looking forward to getting my hands on it, anyway!

idk, I couldn't find it on eBay or fellside and you didn't leave any link to what you knew\saw.

Peter put together a cycle of folk, Kipling and other songs on a maritime theme which he called 'The Maritime Suite'. Peter collaborated with Dolly Collins with whom he had worked on previous albums to provide the musical arrangements. With just Dolly's piano and Ursula Pank's 'cello this was the line-up which was featured on BBC Radio 2 performing the suite. Peter toured the show solo using slides to illustrate the performance. This is its first time on general release.

Peter had some spectacular slides to accompany his solo performances. I wonder what happened to them?

You can listen to song excerpts (1:30 min each) on this The Maritime Suite page. The five extra tracks are either solo, duo or accompanied on the concertina, so they are quite clearly not from the original suite but thematically suitable songs from other recordings.
