Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Another brexit song From: GUEST,Jack Warshaw Date: 04 Oct 19 - 09:57 AM Up to date Lyrics: "The Day You Sold Your Soul" I've been rewriting the final verse every week as the saga develops. The Day You Sold Your Soul Music and lyrics ©Jack Warshaw 2019 You read it in the papers, you watched it on TV You followed it on Twitter, repeated endlessly A simple little slogan, it read "Take back control" You thought you cast your vote, but you really sold your soul You sold away your freedoms that sweat and tears have won You sold your children's birthright for tens of years to come You sold a wealth of nations, joined in harmony For lies and empty promises that can never come to be Now they show true colours, hauled up on the mast Stand up for Queen and country, marching forward- to the past Soaring prices, lower wages, your money sunk to hell Hurry to the auction 'till there's nothing left to sell The beggars' bowl is brought before the bandits at the gate Hoping stupid Uncle Sam will make Britannia great A power-hungry President wears a twisted grin The victor gets the spoils, you've been hooked and rooked again. Now Bozo and the billionaires still defend the fraud They've already moved their cash to safer shores abroad They tell you "It's the people's will," while they bleed you dry And never give a damn if you live or how you die. So, merry old Britannia, what will become of thee? Will you stand for rule of law and uphold democracy? Will our people come together, rise up and take control? And break the band of Bozos who've come to claim your soul? You read it in the papers, you watched it on TV You followed it on Twitter, repeated endlessly A simple little slogan, it read "Take back control" The day you cast your vote, was the day you sold your soul. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Another brexit song From: GUEST,Jack Warshaw Date: 04 Oct 19 - 09:54 AM Lyrics: "Little Britain" hear at: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4ZDwnSK7HSSFG84GBT5SMK Little Britain © Jack Warshaw 2016 Tune: Little Stream of Whiskey (Doc Watson) Oh, give me back the good old days when Britannia ruled the waves And built a mighty empire on colonies and slaves We were stuck in Europe, but now we can be free Back in Little Britain the way it used to be I believed in Little Britain the way it used to be Fish and chips, wooden ships and folk all drinking tea We all cried cheers and drank warm beer and acted so polite Life was so delightful, and people looked alike We all hate the Euro, foie gras and ratatouille We all hate cappuccino, frogs legs and chablis They all smell like garlic their grub's a bleeding farce They can stuff their bleeding horse meat, right up their bleeding arse I believed in Little Britain the way it used to be Cricket bats, bowler hats and folk all drinking tea We all cried cheers and drank warm beer and acted so polite Life was so delightful, and people looked alike In days of old when knights were bold and peasants knew their place Smeared in Woad, but underneath were awfully pure of race Those Romans, Vikings, Saxons, who plundered, raped and stayed They were all so pleasant, not like immigrants today I believed in Little Britain the way it used to be Mother Goose, the hangman's noose and folk all drinking tea Up with ruling classes, down with Brussels bourgeoisie I believed in Little Britain so I voted O-U-T. I believed in jolly Boris, good old Nigel was true Brit But they fucked off like cowards and left us in the shit Now Boris is in government, the shit has hit the fan. The joker in the pack, has screwed us once again. I believed in Little Britain I thought I was true blue Till I found out the Brexiteers are bonkers through and through Now just like little lemmings they soon will have their wish When sorry Little Britain is falling off a cliff. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Another brexit song From: bradfordian Date: 07 Jan 19 - 02:14 PM The No-Funnel Line ( Lyrics by Les Barker, tune: Grey Funnel Line- as performed by Phil Beer) Don’t mind the wind or the rolling to see the weary night never worries me don’t mind the storms, don’t fear the squalls because we’ve got no ships at all there’s room below on the no funne line a chap called Grayling called around and gave us £13 million and in his haste he failed to spot the things we need but haven’t got there’s room below on the no final line One day they’ll come, the HGVs down Through the town and along the quays and down the ramp all unaware to find the ferry but it’s not there there’s room below on the no funnel line there is I fear no way to wend our way from Margate to Ostend Our name may well be Seaborne freight but without a boat, we are buggered mate there’s room below on the no funnel line Oh lord, if dreams were only real We’d make a fortune from a no-deal one final toast, please raise your drinks as Miss Titanic slowly sinks there’s room below on the no funnel line and as we slip beneath the sea the band will play “abide with me” and barely yards from Blighty’s shore we’ll sail the no funnel line no more we’ll sail the no funnel line no more Copyright Les Barker If anyone spots any typos, please feel free to update. Subject: Lyr Add: Another brexit song From: GUEST,Bradfordin Date: 16 Dec 18 - 04:36 PM (To "Bushes and Briars")lyrics by Janet Russell Through Brexit mud and mire I lately lost my way Through Brexit mud and mire I lately lost my way All for to gain control of laws Of borders and of trade I overheard the people Cry out in fear and pain Of food banks, zero hours And calling out for change Long time have we been waiting for The coming of a change. Sometimes I am uneasy And troubled in my mind That the poor are growing poorer No comfort can they find But the rich grow rich and richer still And leave us all behind But if I should go to the rich All for to have my say And if I should go to the rich The rich they would say “nay” If I told them they should share their wealth They’d ne’er hear me again Through Brexit mud and mire We lately lost our way Instead of making changes In housing, work and pay Long time have we been waiting for Fair housing, work and pay My Adaptation of the above: Through Brexit mud and mire I lately lost my way All for to gain control Of borders, laws and trade All for to gain control Of borders laws and trade I overheard the people cry The time has come for change Long time have we been waiting for The coming of a change. Long time have we been waiting for The coming of a change. Sometimes I am uneasy And troubled in my mind That the poor are growing poorer No comfort can they find But the rich grow rich and richer And leave us all behind But if I should go to the rich All for to have my say If I told them they should share their wealth They’d ne’er hear me again If I told them they should share their wealth They’d ne’er hear me again Through Brexit mud and mire We lately lost our way Instead of making changes In housing, work and pay Long time have we been waiting for Fair housing, work and pay |
