Subject: civil war, 2 women waiting for train? From: Pamela R Date: 14 Jan 19 - 12:13 AM A friend asked me if I could track down a song he remembers hearing long ago. It's not a genre I know well and I can't seem to dig up any examples. Synopsis: two women are waiting at a train station for the return of their lovers, who are soldiers in a war (American Civil War?). It is revealed that the men are being returned in coffins, and that they had fought on opposite sides. Anyone recognize it, or know an older traditional song of which it might be a derivative? |
