Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray - tennis From: Steve Shaw Date: 22 Jan 23 - 09:40 AM He only qualified as a Scotsman once he lost. Before that he was a Brit. |
Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray - tennis From: gillymor Date: 20 Jan 23 - 01:19 PM I watched his 5 set match with 5th set tie breaker against Berrettini the other day. He still runs like a deer. |
Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray - tennis From: keberoxu Date: 20 Jan 23 - 01:07 PM it was 4:05 am by the time Andy Murray won his latest tennis match, according to the New York Times, which called him "a stout-hearted Scotsman". |

Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: Tattie Bogle Date: 02 Feb 19 - 08:59 PM Let's hope re-surfacing hips is better than the current standards of re-surfacing roads! But well done Andy at everything you've achieved! |

Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: Senoufou Date: 02 Feb 19 - 04:40 AM I agree with all that has been said above about his talent, his determination and his wonderful victories. But I can never understand why people post on social media photos of private stuff such as their operations, X-rays and so on. These things are confidential. I read that the picture of Andy lying in his hospital bed with various lines attached to his arm etc has provoked a lot of arguments from medics in UK and USA. The other arm should have been used. No, it was correct as it's the same side as the hip op. The lines are sharing a vein. No they aren't. His X ray shows his genitals (which it does) and so on. All very distasteful and intrusive, but avoidable if he'd merely shown his bravely smiling face. |

Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: Big Al Whittle Date: 01 Feb 19 - 10:24 AM Really we ought to have a National Murray Day. A bit like the way we celebrate Torvill and Dean . We could all eat Murray Mints, watch Andy tutor a pro-celebrity tennis tournament, and finish off the day with a Ruby Murray. |
Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: keberoxu Date: 31 Jan 19 - 06:21 PM Plucky Andy Murray found out that the television show host Piers Morgan was joking on his TV broadcast about the X-ray image that Murray posted to social media. "I was heavily medicated at the time," Murray then texted to Morgan, and of course Morgan announced the text on air. Well I saw some image of some X-Ray finally and whose-ever it was, it -- erm -- yes, it is a distracting image ! |
Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: keberoxu Date: 30 Jan 19 - 12:17 PM I am the last person in the world to find out that Andy Murray had hip surgery a year ago as well, so that's two surgeries on that hip within twelve months. The poor guy would just like the quality of life sufficient to take his border terriers for walks without excruciating hip pain. more on Andy Murray |
Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: keberoxu Date: 29 Jan 19 - 01:55 PM He doesn't lack for guts or courage, does he? Already, since an X-ray was publicized, people are saying that something x-rated is in the X-ray along with his hip ... so puerile of people. Anyhow, here's Andy Murray's post-surgery news. |

I believe Sir Malcolm Sargent won it the year before." Unfair! If you're in the audience you could see Rod's bottom only some of the time but you could see Sir Malcolm's all of the time (unless you were in the cheap seats behind the band). We need to adopt an objective standard for bottom-observation. I'm willing to take on half the job (i.e., one out of two genders, not one out of two buttocks). |

Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 16 Jan 19 - 07:27 PM Not fair on an opponent to play in that condition. If the opponent loses he's seen as being useless, if he wins it's seen as a meaningless victory. The honourable thing is to drop out. The |

Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: keberoxu Date: 15 Jan 19 - 11:07 AM As a sports outsider, I watch celebrities rather than matches, I confess. I am old enough to remember the likes of Billie Jean King and John McEnroe. Andy Murray appealed to me because he is an emotional heartfelt player/fighter without being a brat like McEnroe. |
Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: Tattie Bogle Date: 14 Jan 19 - 02:43 PM Sad, if not unexpected for him to go out in this last match though what a fight: five sets including 2 tie-breaks. Well done Andy! So what now? Will he go into coaching future stars, or do something entirely different? He has never known much else. |
Subject: RE: BS: Andy Murray From: gillymor Date: 14 Jan 19 - 09:47 AM He was/is an exceptional player. His star might have shone quite a bit brighter if his career hadn't coincided with those of the great triumvirate of Federer, Nadal and Djokovich. |
