Any ideas welcome as to what to listen to next this year. I am still listening to my usual John Wright, Show of Hands, Vin Garbutt, Harvey Andrews, Jackie Leven & Christi Moore but would like a new artist each month of the year if possible.
Just been listening to Sons from the Seasons by Joshua Burnell. Excellent start.

I suggest you subscribe to Folk Radio UK's weekly podcast; loads of new (and older) artists delivered to your inbox.

All the past podcasts are available on Mixcloud, too.

If you want to stick to UK and Ireland try:

Daoiri Farrell, FourWinds, Lisa O'Neill, Terence O'Flaherty, Lankum (previously called Lynched), Eamon O'Leary, Stick in the Wheel, Tom Reid, The Gloaming, John Doyle, Martyn Wyndham-Read, Dalla, Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith, Ed Miller, Ewan McLennan, Sam Kelly and The Lost Boys, Ian Thomson & Marc Duff, Heidi Talbot, Ninebarrow, The Trials of Cato.

I enjoyed listening to albums from those artists last year. There is so much amazing music available. Explore the shows on Folk Radio UK as suggested above. Mike Norris' weekly program on the EFDSS site will also lead you in all manner of directions.

Norris

Of course, there has also been an avalanche of recent releases to explore in Americana, American folk, Canadian folk etc.
