Strong start by France who dominated the first half, comeback by Wales in the 2nd half aided and abetted by France's discipline going to pieces.

Rather lackadaisical response by Scotland to Italy too, having been 33-3 ahead then letting 3 soft Italian tries through within just a few minutes! But still too late for Italy to catch up.

A stunning win by England, one not foreseen by recent results.

I kept fairly quiet in my local on the west coast of Ireland, tis a terrible thing seeing grown men crying into their pints.

No Itoje for England, he is a big loss even though the potential replacements are pretty decent players.

I've got my seat at the bar in my favourite bar with an uninterupted view of the TV. Bring on Scotland, the Irish have a point to prove!!

Saw one of the English TV sexists joke-tweeting about the porous Irish backstop during the last game in which Ireland was sadly and justly trounced by England; the English team wearing a terribly revealing long-johns-style strip.

My mrs gets emotionally out of control watching Wales play..

Part of me would like Italy to thrash them
just so I can take the piss out of her..

But, as much fun as that might be for a short while,
it'd rebound and she'd be in a vile mood for the rest of the weekend...

Superb win by England today, absolutely took France apart. Bring on Wales!!

Probably the match to decide not only the Championship but a possible Grand Slam for both teams.

Husband just watching England v France recorded, as we were out this afternoon. Still 20 minutes to go, and he doesn't know the final score. Should I tell him he's wasting his time?

Hi

I watched the 2 games on Saturday. Scotland made hard work of what should have been an easy game.

Wales carried on winning with a close game with England. They just never give up and rolled over England at the end.

I don;t understand why England played a kicking game when all they achieved was to give possession to Wales;s hard running backs.

Wales should win the championship and the would deserve it.

Cheers

Mike

Penultimate Six Nations weekend coming up. The fixtures are:
Saturday 9 March:
Scotland v Wales 14:15 kick off (Televised by BBC)
England v Italy 16:45 kick off (Televised by ITV)
Sunday 10 March:
Ireland v France 15:00 kick off (Televised by ITV)

Times are for kick off, programmes start earlier. (all times GMT)
This may cause confusion for any American viewers as they start Summer Time on Sunday 10th while Europe (UK included) wait until the end of March. So the time correction for Sunday's match will be one hour different to the correction for Saturday's matches.

Not too optimistic for Scotland's chances against Wales on Saturday, even on home turf at Murrayfield! Will be childminding the grandweans all afternoon, so no chance of watching the match until later, so no spoilers please, until I've watched the recorded match in the evening!

Hi

This week-ends's games have brought about an interesting last week of the Competition.

There could be a few shocks e.g. Ireland could beat Wales and Scotland could beat England. It could bring about a situation where any of three teams could win the Competition.

Wales are still favourites but England or Ireland could sneak in. Of course to let this happen Wales have to lose.

Cheers

Mike

Current table:
Wales       16 points
England    15 points
Ireland      14 points
Scotland    6 points
France       6 Points
Italy          0 points

So, yes, As Mike says, it's close at the top. But if Ireland beat Wales that would put Ireland on 18 points (without a bonus, or 19 with) and Wales on a maximum of 17 (if they get a losers' bonus). If England lose, the most they'd get is the losers' bonus (and a new total of 16), so in the scenario Mike gives it would be a win for Ireland, but no 'Grand Slam'

A bit that had me puzzled was what would happen if England won with a bonus point and Wales won without one but I see that in winning the grand slam, Wales would gain three bonus points.

Congratulations to Wales. I'd guessed the game against Ireland would be tight but it seems the outcome was never in any doubt. Mum who supports Wales and watched the game is very happy.

England vs Scotland must have been quite a game. Shame Scotland didn't hang on those last few minutes for what would have been an incredible victory - mind you, coming back to draw from 31-0 is quite an achievement.

My mrs is ecstatic, just managed to get her to finish off her bottle and go to bed...
During the match one of her female friends texted from the stadium to say
she was too drunk to know what was going on except Wales were still winning...

That's valleys girls...

Well, well, well! i.e.

Very well done Wales! .....and

Well done Scotland: what a nail-biter: just a shame they let that last try in, but they do get to keep the Calcutta Cup for another year at least! Like quite a few of my friends, we had almost given up on them by half-time, and I went to do some music practice at half-time. Not long after, husband comes galloping in from the sitting room - "Scotland have just scored 2 tries" - s back to the TV!

Yes, T.B.
I was delighted to see my team win the Grand Slam.
But seeing Scotland keep England to a draw was almost as good.
It would have been a great consolation to the day if Wales hadn't beaten Ireland.

hi

As along time ex Rugby Union player the final day was great for all.

Wales proved that they that they are very worthy of the 6 Nations crown.

However I must applaud Scotland for creating probably the best and most enthralling match that I have ever seen. To recover from 31 points down and to get so close to the win they deserved was a fantastic performance.

I am puzzled by what happened to England I don,t know but congrats to Scotland. and also again to Wales.

Cheers

Mike

Sorry for Ireland as we have some N Irish rugby fanatics in the family, and the team has done so well in the past, but glad they at least got that one try!
