I remember a song my mother used to sing to us. It's possibly Pete Seeger or Oscar Brand or Jean Ritchie, but I don't remember now, just that she sang it about the same time she sang the songs from Golden Slumbers: Lullabies from Far and Near, so in the mid-late 50s. The whole chorus is

Hey don dalicky rilicky ralicky rickety rackety roo roo roo

and I feel like it's a song about "As I was going to [someplace for something] rickety rackety roo roo roo I met an old woman who [something something[ hey done dalicky rilicky ralicky rickety rackety roo roo roo" but I can't remember the verses for the life of me.

Anyone? I'd love to find it if I can.

You, sir, are a life-saver. So it is, The Wee Cooper O' Fife. THANK YOU.

I grew up with a recording of The Wee Cooper o' Fife
sung by Burl Ives, with that chorus.

As suggested by wysiwyg, the song Pete Seeger would have sung would be an Ameican take on the Wee Cooper o' Fife under the title of "Nickety Nackety Now Now Now" a version of which I uploaded to YouTube some time ago:
Nickety Nackety Now Now Now

I think the Nickety I heard was Carla Sciaky. Took a bit to dig back thru the brain clog to pin it on her.
