Two things really,
1. The IoT Song
2. Daniel Kelly singer/songwriter

The IoT (Internet of Things) song is based on the melody of the spiritual song Dem Dry Bones composed by James Weldon Johnson. The new lyrics (below) were composed by Daniel Kelly.
It is an updated story of connections; not physical connections but the connections achieved by wireless technology! If you are not familiar now with the creeping progress being made it wont be long before it catches up with you!
Most of you will relate to these self explanitary lyrics, an interesting commentary on our modern times.

The IoT Song. Lyrics by Daniel Kelly, melody by James Weldon Johnson

My watch is connected to my iPhone,
And the iPhone’s connected to my macbook
And my macbook’s connected to my i-Home
Don’t know where my data is stored,

Them phones, them phones, them i-Phones x 3
Don’t know where my data is stored.

Now my Facebook’s connected to my Snapchat,
And my Snapchat’s connected to Tinder,
And my Tinder got shared on 4chan,
Now I’m a Reddit karma lord.

Them phones.......

Now my fridge is connected to my toaster,
And my toaster is connected to the wifi,
My wifi’s connected to the cloud guy,
Who works for the N.S.A.

Them phones.....

Now my TV’s connected to my Xbox
And my Xbox’s connected to Netflix,
And My Netflix’s connected to my credit card,
Gonna be a victim of identity fraud.

Them phones.....

(N.S.A. = National Security Asociation [of United States of America])

Hmmm. I'd be surprised if James Weldon Johnson wrote "Dem Bones," but it's probably in his songbook.

The name looked familiar, but the world is full of blokes named Daniel & families named Kelly, & it's the same bloke who I've booked for my folk club later in the year.

Daniel Kelly is a singer/songwriter from Yass who writes and plays ballads from the Irish, Scottish and English traditions along with original material in the folk ballad style. Daniel’s fourth album was a set of original ballads written about the Yass Valley region, a few of the songs focus on the strong connection Yass has to Ireland.

His latest CD is Zombie Sheep of the Murrumbidgee, & this is the blurb about that song - This obscure story appeared in the weekly articles that Mary Yeo published in the Yass Evening Tribune during 1920 and 1921, republished in the book ‘Early Days of Yass’.

Yass is about an hour west of our national capital, Canberra.
