And far beyond this mortal shore
We'll meet with those who have gone before
And shout to think we have gained the day
By marching in the good old way

Fair windsand calm seas, Admiral

Isnt this so very sad?
Two lovely people taken from us so relatively early in life?
At least they are now together again. Saw and spoke at length to Tony about two years ago at Durham F/Fest, mainly about Pearl.
Best regards to all his family. Will try to make the Towersey craic. Jo

RIP Tony - safely moored in Fiddlers' Green. . . I've been grateful for Tony and Pearl's hospitality on many occasions - two lovely people who are sadly missed by many.

Another one taken too soon. I really got to know Tony and Pearl better through their charity events "Dog Days Do". A lot of dosh was raised for the Caister Lifeboat which was not funded by the RNLI. Some cold but very happy weekends.
They were a lovely couple and now they will be at their happiest because they are together again, Reunited RIP Tony.

Jon

Moira Craig just posted this on f/b and I'm sure she won't mind me posting it here:

HI All, just to let you know that Tony O'Neill's funeral will be on 26th April at East Hamsted Crem Slough around midday. with the wake following on at the same place Pearl's was. Can you let me know if you are likely to come so the family have an idea of numbers. I will post more details when I have them. Please can you pass/share this to folk that are not on my friend's list.

Mick

Such sad news. Tony will be a huge loss to the Folk world. I have many happy memories of song sessions at so many festivals together with memories of Tony and Pearl visiting Ray and myself here in West Cork and their gigs at Fastnet Festival. RIP

I think, Mick, that it was Pearl who was responsible for the bookings! They were such a great team together and are/will be much missed at the festivals where they hosted singarounds and encouraged people to sing.

So sad to hear this. I knew Tony from long ago, enjoyed many nights at Maidenhead FC (he even had a lapse of judgement and booked me and Kitty Vernon there once or twice!) and saw him and Pearl at many singarounds and festivals. Always good company.

I've not seen him since he moved to Whitby, but this news came as a great surprise and sorrow. RIP Tony.

This really makes me sad - I owe a lot to those Towersey sessions and Tony and Pearl were so welcoming to Cele and me. Now all three are gone. Rest in peace, all of you.

I haven't been to Maidenhead for a while now, but in earlier days, I used to stay with him & His lovely late wife Pearl, who always made me feel very welcome.
Great folks, real enthusiasts- so good to have known them R.I.P.

This is sad news. We knew him over many years as members of Maidenhead folk club. They were very generous in their socialising. The first dinner party with them we stayed up all night - then went to the boat yard near Tower Bridge where Tony really enjoyed showing us the beautiful marine engines that so enthused him. I like to think he is steering a lovely barge on a sunny canal. We are attending MFC tonight, maybe sing one of his songs. RIP Tony.

I'm really sorry to hear this.    I spent hundreds of happy hours with Tony and Pearl in rousing singing sessions around the country, during the 1980s.   They were both always friendly and kind.

RIP Tony and thank you

I've not known Tony very long, only since he moved to Whitby. He always came across as a really good and gentle man.

I was only talking to him a week or two ago in the Black Horse.

This news is very, very sad.

My sincere condolences to all who knew him.

I've just seen a post from Moira Craig on Facebook to say that Tony O'Neill - The Admiral and former organiser, with Pearl (Mrs Admiral) of Maidenhead Folk Club - has passed away following a fall at his home in Whitby.

I first went boating with Tony and Pearl in 1982, after singing in the barn with them at Towersey festival. At least they're singing again together now.

RIP Tony

Kitty
xx
