Ringo Starr went on to be the voice behind the "Thomas the Tank Engine" series circa 1970s-80s.
Sandra Kerr (ok, more folk than pop) did Bagpuss.
Numerous pop stars have tried their hand at acting or moved to musical theatre.

Jeremy Clyde was half of Chad and Jeremy. They weren't a major success in the UK but when I was in Canada in 1964 their recording of 'Yesterday's Gone' seemed to be on the radio all the time. He has since then appeared in many films and television plays.

Going back a bit but, I recall Ricky Nelson in RIO BRAVO and wasn't Connie Francis in some movie ? Pat Boone made a few forgettable movies , one a remake of STATE FAIR, in the original of which another "Pop" Star , Dick Haymes , had appeared in the same role. Sal Mineo was in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and where do we leave Elvis ??

Ok, Jos, I concede, the films were merely a vehicle for their songs, but they did try to act: whether successful or not.....!

And how about "boot on the other foot", actors becoming pop stars, e.g. Mamma Mia, Sunshine on Leith? And currently circulating on Facebook, Alan Cumming singing Dougie Maclean's "Caledonia" - and very nicely too!

Alex James (Blur) became a cheesemaker, journalist and Classic FM broadcaster.

Several actors can make a fist at singing, too. I have two CDs recorded by actors who played in Coronation Street on UK TV.

In told that one of my favourite voices, Sarah Brightman, once sang Pop.

Anything rather than getting a 'proper' job, eh!:-)
