OK, so my memory is failing. I'm looking for commercial-sounding sea song group that were active in New England in maybe the 1970s-90s. They were trying to do Kingston Trio to sea music, and they were relatively successful. I'm sure they sold lots more recordings and booked lots more concerts than us purist types.
And anybody think of the group I'm trying to remember? They had lots of CDs out at one time.

I believe you are thinking of a group based in Maine and I am also blanking on the name. The had several "hits," including "The day of the coaster." Romanoff was their leader.

I believe the group you want is Schooner Fair.

"Schooner Fare" fits the bill and two of their members are still active.
