Rich-Joy, what's their act name?

Bruce - a bright Yellow Caravan in the various camping areas? probably best to meet you in the usual places

I'm staying at the Ibis - Tent City was to hard last year & I have even more sore bits this year (poor me!)

Still haven't won the lottery Bugsy? Dunno if we'll ever meet. If my sister & brother-in-law hadn't sold their house in Freemantle to live permanently on the Sunshine Coast when they retired, I could be visiting them & meet you & Mrs Bugsy.

I was too late in booking to get one of the powered sites, so I have to find a spot with power & water amoungest the general camping areas. I will be at Epic from Monday.

John & Dale are old mates too, particularly of my late Beloved, Paul Lawler. (5 years anniversary next week ...... sigh ......)

All sorted, tucked behind a building with a large power box a few feet away and a tap around the corner,

a stone throw from other BMC club members, and near the entrance for the Oval camping.

I'll take a ride around the site later,

Well, a bright Yellow van is hard to miss, by the end of the festival half the campers will be using my van as a reference mark !!

Bugsy, a few years ago I converted my Fo'c's'le Firkins cassettes into CD's and then transfered them on to my ipod, still enjoying the Firkins singing.

Good onya Bruce!

Last year we recorded our first official CD as "The Original Fo'c's'le Firkins. That's 7 of the 8 surviving members of the 10 man team who performed at our first gig at the 1985 National Folk Festival in Perth.

Good Friday next year will be our 35 anniversary. Maybe we could get a gig at the Nati9nal to celebrate.

Cheers

less than 12 hours till I walk out the door - so much to do & where is my camera battery charger with spare battery? - I remember putting it away carefully ...

maybe it's with a friend's mobile which she put away carefully in a safe spot in her flat. She tried calling it but the battery is flat (insert sad face)

Well the end of another National, its been a long time since I stayed on site. and having my own Caravan on site was fanitasic, about a 1/3 the cost of staying 4 nights in a hotel and I been here for 8 days.

My only issue is the Bars not taking cash you had to use a credit card for all grog, time comsuming and no way of tracking what you have spent.

Walking round the site was a killer for me but managed about 40 kms during the 5 days.

Highlight was April Verch, Hymn Singing and the colonial ball (again) and also G&S's Trial By Jury by Loosely Woven.

Great to catch up with friends, hope to be here next year.

Back home again & I've downloaded 430 pics & have sorted them into events. National Folk Festival facebook page

early this morning I had to do a preliminary sort & delete nearly 100 pics as I'd run out of memory, but as I often take multiple pics of a scene, especially of movement, I just deleted blurry & duplicate pics so I could continue taking pics!

Moral of the story is to take a second memory card, tho this is the first time in 4 years I've run out of memory at a large event.

YAWWWWN - off to bed

Among the many highlights: Eric Bogle, the Fagans and all subsets thereof, Bob Fox, Ricardo Tesi and Banditaliana, Enda Kenny, Penny Davies and Roger Ilott, Melisande [Electrotrad], Matthew Lykos, Xenos, The Spooky Men's Chorale, Nicola Hayes & Helene Brunet. I missed John Schuman & Shane Howard, but my wife saw them and was over the Moon.

Guest, none of my pics are on facebook or will be there, I just put the link up so facebookers could see what is already there.

My pics will go on the Bush Music Club blog as I was there with BMC's Saplings workshops - traditional music for young musicians & would-be-musicians 8-18.

sandra (who is not on facebook)

Gerry - I was one of many who walked out of the Schumann/Howard concert on Saturday night - it was far too LOUD, I'm an old folkie, not a deaf old rock'n'roller!
I was told audience members were asking the sound blokes to turn it down & as I left an 80 year old friend was leaving because even with her earplugs in it was still too loud. As we left another bloke came out removing his earplugs. I met 2 friends outside & we kept listening as it was comfortable with the doors closed, but every time people left it blared out.

But it was wonderful hearing him sing I was only 19

Sandra, Teresa saw them Monday afternoon. Maybe they were feeling more mellow, or maybe someone had a word with them, or with the panellers.

You would not have liked Melisande [Electrotrad]. I could only take a few minutes of her. But I give her full marks for energy, for her vocals, and for finding interesting material.

Melisand's agent had asked a few of us if we could suggest a support for her Sydney concert but I was unable to suggest anyone as her style of music is outside my experience.

Trad is great, but electro is not my thing.

sandra

A friend who was at Pennsylvania State University in the 60s did not like it when Dylan when electric ...

I was working in the festival office during the Sunday Night concert - we had a couple of windows open, but needed to close them because the Shane Howard/John Schuman concert was so loud, even in the office. We couldn't even hear ourselves when on the phone.

That volume is not necessary.
