Hitting me really hard. He did so much for everyone. Ron took the song I wrote and added the slide and whistle. He was a master musician and a master person. God bless you my brother. Always in my heart

Dan, on a beautiful, hot and sunny summer day in June 2017 a group of us who loved and admired Ron, gathered at a place he loved from childhood and movingly remembered him in words and song. Bruce gave a particularly moving remembrance. Here is a link to a clip of his musical sendoff to Ron.

I got the message that he'd died, along with the request not to put it on Mudcat. Ron was enormously talented, and enormously nice. I think if you were his friend, he'd try to get the moon for you if you really wanted it.

Yes he would. It’s just hard to find a dedication on the web and not knowing. He was a kind loving soul who enjoyed friends and music

PM would have worked really well. Ron would email me often. Then the email stopped. I thought maybe some how I offended him. Only to find out two years later we lost him. I am upset and very disappointed in mudcat

Now I am caught between grief and anger. In more than a decade I have seen mudcat of love and at times cruel but the love always won. It was not until this moment that I realized how cruel it can be. I am sorry I can’t do this anymore God bless you all and bless my friend Ron Rip my brother

Dan, It wasn't cruel, just an imperfect, grieving human thing. It was all over Facebook.
I'm thinking it was an accident you didn't get notified. Just one of those "I thought YOU told him" things. I believed you'd been told, but I was wrong. I guess that's how information falls through cracks.

We just need to be better at communicating.

Every time you talk to Ron. Oh I am ok bro. He never was the kind who wanted to worry his friends. Ron was never the kind to diasppear but I figured I either pissed him off some how or he was swamped making music. I liked it better thinking I just pissed him off somehow

I just now saw this thread. Thank you all. Losing Ron was a tough blow. He was truly like a big brother to me and will never be replaced. A remarkable person and amazingly talented artist. Thank you all
