Has anyone any memories or stories of the much missed Lancaster Maritime Festival?

Me! We always performed the Abram Pace Egg play there on Good Friday. Once the play was done and I didn't have to remember lines any more I headed off to the pub with the Pussers Rum promotion for a good sing and a (very large) tot or two :-) I used to get kidnapped by the press gang on a regular basis but we got our own back by snogging their poxy doxies while we were still blacked up!

Just good times wandering from pub to pub saying hi to Matt Armour and other such dear hearts; also meeting Deb Cowan for the 1st time. Excellent low-key, no frills companionship with locals and chums alike and if it were cold, which of course is the way of temperatures up here, blazing fires in some places to drive the cold spring away!
Those human statues, the antique bus running trips out to such delights as Glasson Dock.
Yup, much missed. How short-sighted, to let it go.

Biggest memory, being at all the 'original' festivals before it moved to Glasson. The superb breakfasts at the Shakespeare Hotel. Too many memories.

Selling my nephew to the press gang, I still have the coin somewhere!
Hearing T'Antiques Roadshow performing Icy Acres, which is why I jumped at the offer to join with Nick and Ed to form the current trio, I just wanted to sing that song.
Joyce McLeod and the toilet from hell. If you didn't hear about it, the macerator toilet in their hotel room went into reverse!
Geof Higingbottom's impromptu verse at the final sing about what he would do to Dave Wright if forced to perform on the station platform again.

The year the press gang pressed Fathom. One year when we finished on a Sunday, I went down to the quay to say my goodbyes before crossing over to the East Coast or a few days holiday - and finding myself clapped in chains in the maritime museum. Leg irons hurt the ankles - it wouldn't surprise me if felons suffered permanent foot damage from wearing them for any extended length of time.

It was at Lancaster I met some of my dearest UK friends and continue those friendships to this day. There are also a number of folks who have passed on that are missed as well. I was there in '04, '05 and '06.

Those that are missed: Johnny Collins and Louisa Jo Killen. I also met Roy Palmer at Lancaster.

I recall that meeting, quite well, Clive. I had just finished a workshop in the Three Mariners (?) and there you were at the bar with pint and introduced yourself. The beginnings of a long and dear friendship.
