Looking for an old country song called The Auctioneer goes something like this "There was a boy in Arkansas who wouldn't listen to his ma when she told him he'd better go to school....." Would really appreciate your help.

John

Trivia forcing itself out of my poor little brain--"The Auctioneer" was written and performed by LeRoy Van Dyke (sp?), who had quite a hit with it on the country charts. The story was about his brother, and is true, except for the Arkansas part--they grew up in Missouri, but that's a lot harder to rhyme.

An exceptionally fun song to sing, I added it to my repertoire about a year ago (with thanks to Gene).... Lots of fun when you had a few too many....... (I think I was able to still sing it coherently after about 10 or so beers.....I will poat a midi of myself doing the tune at 2:00am tomorrow.(maybe))

Have fun with it......

Well, "The Auctioneer"
and "I've Been Everywhere"
are a couple of tongue twisters...

Another I have never been able to transcribe; is

Dave Dudley's "There Ain't No Easy Run"...

Anybody want to try it---email me
