W. Eugene Smith was a great American photographer of the 40s through 70s. In the mid 70s his photos were instrumental in calling attention to the human tragedy of Minamata, Japan. I was lucky enough to attend a talk by him and his wife on the subject. A movie is expected in 2020 about these events with Johnny Depp in the role of Smith. Bill Nighy will also be in it.
That is NOT why I am placing this above the line. Apparently W Eugene Smith was a collector of live jazz music. The recordings languished for many years after his passing. A large amount of his recordings have been digitized and placed at jazzloftproject.
I am posting this without having gone very deeply into the site. Hope there are some of you who will enjoy it.
