From: Rick Fielding

Hi Folks. I started another thread of this nature about a month ago, but I can't seem to find it. (my computer seems to jam at the drop of an adverb.)

Just figured that if any of us are playing tomorrow night and want to invite local (and not so local) catters to come out and visit, we can list it in one thread for any last minute entertainment seekers.

I'm at the Scarboro Civic Centre (in Toronto) from 7pm through til "you know what". It's free. There's no booze (sorry about that). There will be about 3000 people, lots of kidlets, fireworks etc. They give me a nice big dressing room with lots of food and soft drinks, so if any catter in the hood was thinking of staying home 'cause of downtown hassles, you're welcome to come by and say hello and ring in the new year.

Anyone else playing anywhere?

Rick

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the invite.

Do you, as a real star, have all the blue skittles removed from the bags of skittles in the DR? If i were a star I would.

I gotta pass tho'. My band never works on New Years. To much potntial for damage of instruments.

I'll stay home and watch The Great Escape. sort of a New Yers Trad at my house. Brst of the new year to you and Heather, hope to see you soonest.

Don

Well Don, to show you just how much clout I have...half the stupid sandwiches have onion in them! (which I'm violently alergic to) That's why I need Mudcatters to drop by...if any of the buffet is wasted they probably won't hire me for next year!
Have a great one by the way.

Rick

Caroline and I are doing our segment of the "Connecticut State Troubadours" concert in the Hartford "First Night" thing. We're on from about 5 to 6. Then we scoot home, collect our sound system, and buzz down to New Milford to take part in their "New England Celebration." For that, we'll be singing in the Canterbury School Chapel from 10 to 11:15 p.m. or thereabouts. Guess we'll have to welcome in the New Year as we take down our P.A. system and load it back in the car. Whoopee-damn-dee!

Sandy

"The Great Escape" he asked in some wonderment........A few years ago Karen and I decided to watch movies over the Eve so we went out and rented a few we hadn't seen. First we watched "Philadelphia" and followed it with "Schindler's List." We then took a handful of luvox and tried to figure if there were any other people out there as stupid as we were. We're a bit more careful nowadays.

This year we're just going to have a kiddie party with the boys. Went out and bought hats and decorations, candy, snacks, etc. Neither understand the significance of this one, but we kinda' want them to remember it. Yeah, I know, its dumb, but..............Figure we'll check in here some to watch the eve go around the world..hopefully. We have a lot of folks coming for NYD dinner and we try to have all the "luck" dishes from various places we've lived. Afterward I plan to have incredible gas.

Spaw

Ever since we nixed plans to go to Boston's First Night about 6 years ago because it was so damn cold, we've been having a Family First Night (recently elevated to a "triple-F" experience: Forced Family Fun, which means, yes, the 14-year old *has* to participate! Or at least show up. Why??? Because (through gritted teeth)We desire the pleasure of your company!!!)
Seriously, it's evolved into a chance for the 4 of us to be together, play a few games, eat all the junk I don't usually allow, toast the new year on Greenwich Mean Time, and go to bed early. Only this year himself and I are actually leaving the kids Home Alone for a few hours to check out a party t'other side of town. Home before midnight; we'll watch the fireworks from our porch.
May tonight, tomorrow, and the year to come bring joy, peace, and continued Mudcatting!
Allison

I'll be playing, eating, drinking, and just generally having fun with my wife's family. We are simultaneously celebrating the new year, her parents' 50th anniversary, and her father's 80th birthday. Family are in town (Laurel, MD) from New Jersey, Arkansas, Texas, and California. Should be a blast.

Not sure if the Catters' announcing family celebrations etc. are extending invitations to fellow Catters to just drop by and join in or not!! Why not try it and find out!

I'm not giging tonight. However, Sat. afternoon will be playing an open party at Bishops castle, in Exeter, R.I. with the Zydecats. All are welcome, bring a dish. I seem to remember that they pass a hat for the band.

Happy New Year Marc Bernier
