Kind of a shreddy thread, but who are the man and woman sitting with Townes van Zandt in this video of Pancho and Lefty?

I ask because of the approving little half-smile and nod the man gives at some of Zandt's slides and chords - he looks like the teacher noting that a prize pupil has done well - and the woman, also proud, is deferring to the man in a way that suggests the same.

According to the comments the woman was Susanna Clark. She was a songwriter who co-wrote Easy From Now On and I'll Be Your San Antone Rose which appeared on Emmylou Harris albums. Both excellent songs. She and her husband Guy were good friends with van Zandt. I don't know who the man was.

Usually reliable sources say th man is “Uncle” Seymour Washington. Details here -> https://marylauracarter.com/2010/07/16/race-relations/

It's a scene from the film "Heartworn Highways". Watch it. There's a lot of musical history ("Americana", "Outlaw Country") in there.

There's an interesting (and a bit disturbing) documentary about Townes called "Be Here to Love Me" from 2004 if you can find some way to view it.

That would be Uncle Seymour and Phyllis Ivey. In Clarksdale.

Girl in the video with Uncle Seymour is Phyllis Ivy not Suzanna.
