Subject: BS: Jeff Chase
From: Jim McLean
Date: 22 Jul 19 - 09:23 AM

In November 1961 I met a Canadian in Istanbul called Jeff Chase who said he got his guitar from Woody Guthrie.
I have Googled his name and came up with an arranger/publisher from the late 1960s who worked with Leonard Cohen.
Does anyone have any information on this chap?

Shouldn't this be above the line?

Thanks Repparee and Joe. I thought as it wasn't a direct music question I should put it 'below' the line.

Hi There - Im the 2nd Jeff Chase's son for sure - ie the publisher. That said, at first I said to myself "my dad's no Canadian and he didn't have Woody Guthrie's guitar."
But then I think about this - my Dad was very very possibly in Istanbul in Nov '61 and was certainly carrying a Martin mahogany guitar. He also had a penchant for... exaggeration. He rode a Lambretta scooter, so the story goes, from Marseille to Tel Aviv in 1961 and would certainly have been in Istanbul. Curly black hair, good looking with a solid schnoz.
