There's a rather splendid festival going on in London on 10th and 11th August featuring, among others, Reg Meuross, Grace Petrie, Holy Moly and the Crackers, Will Kaufman and the India Electric Company.
It will all be happening in Harrow and should be a great weekend.
See https://www.folk-on-the-hill.co.uk/ for more details and to book tickets.
Be there or be a right-angled rhombus!

According to your link, Jamie, this has been cancelled because of poor ticket sales...

This might perhaps be because there are so many other established festivals happening in August...?

To be fair to Jamie the cancellation was announced 2 days after his post.

It is probably reasonable to say that for much of the year England has more folk festivals now than are financially viable.

Disappointing ticket sales have, indeed, put paid to this. You might be right about the time of year, Kitty. Whatever the reason, it's very sad as it would have been a great do. I'm not part of the organisation - I was just spreading the word - but I feel for those who have put their heart and soul into making it happen only to see it go belly up like this.

Just posted on Twitter the festival will still run but for one day only.

I've seen on Facebook too that it will run on the 11th.

Yes it's true! Folk On The Hill has risen from the ashes! As I understand it thanks are, in no small part, due to the artists themselves.

Here's the story, for anyone not in the twitterati:

Folk on the Hill Festival rises from the ashes. Sunday 11 August. A one-day event 1pm to 10pm. When the festival announced the cancellation of the two day folk festival in Harrow On The Hill due to a lack of ticket sales, the response of sympathy and support from artists and the folk community was overwhelming. So much so that backing has been found to distill this celebration of great live music into a one day event this Sunday 11th August in order to whet the appetite for and springboard a robust and brilliant future festival.Tickets are just £20 for all this:

Reg Meuross

India Electric Company

Jack Cookson

Ron Truman-Border

Herga Folk Club

Introducing Stage Craig Joiner, Odette Michell and Tom Reid

And here's where you can get tickets.

Hope to see some of you there! It's a great deal and deserving of support.
