In the old days I had issues with some of the suicide prevention rules we were taught to employ on the phone. Room for improvement has prevailed over the dogma of the past. One network did a compare and contrast piece between classic psychotherapy and my novel methods when I was in Rochester NY.

An NPR program today talked about Therapy and how it has grown and changed. No longer just the Talking Cure from which all things descend from how your mother treated you at birth. MOM knows that's a crock of BS, but therapy is helpful at sorting things more recent in ones' life.

During the study of the response of switched particle detectors to static negative energy densities and negative energy fluxes it was demonstrated how the switching leads to excitation even in the vacuum and how negative energy can lead to a suppression of this excitation which is similar to macro gravity in a large electric field. Quantum inequalities on the detection are similar to those obtained for the macro universe cosmological constant. “Is there a quantum equivalence principle?” We need to address the issue of why there is negative energy detection in Idaho. Idaho may hold the key to uniting the quantum with the universe at large.
But why is Idaho the only concentration of negative energy on Earth?

I was wrong once. It was second grade and I was called to the blackboard to answer the problem "4+3=?" I first wrote 6, but I knew instantly that was incorrect and I erased it and wrote 7. No one noticed, but I've lived with the shame for many years.

If you are not comfortable with ignorance you should never be a scientist since you have to have a premise of not knowing before can begin to discover.
If you are not comfortable with science you should never be in a position of policy or evolution of your nation or civilization's economy or education since all knowledge and innovation comes from science.
If you look at how many Jews have earned a Nobel prize its about a quarter of all the prizes combined but there are only 15 million Jews.
How many Muslims earned a Nobel prize? TWO. But there are more than a billion Muslims. Why? Because religion killed of their science millenia ago. That led to a kind of civilization collapse.
Some Christians are in danger of collapsing civilization with their anti science agenda. The Vatican knows better than to to follow the Muslims into collapse and supports science in many ways.
So I have to admit I am OK with ignorance. It has driven a passion to learn, study and experiment and to 'know'. Not to know everything but to know what I can. Ignorance has helped me choose roads less traveled that made all the difference. This is why I have always chosen to claim my IQ is way below average although it isn't. Its a good place to start to learn.
My Cosmology hobby started by reading Flatland. My music education began by learning an instrument well enough to meet conductors who taught me more from Harry John Brown to Leonard Bernstien. Hy favorite lesson was that silence was the golden momment of possibility and should be played with keen intent. My interest in Psychology began with a college experiment regarding Hypnosis. Politics was simply a by product of my dad being a political scientist.
Arrogant folks can believe their 'knowing' is above all others and is never wrong while I think being wrong has the beauty to attract more knowledge and wisdom.' In a way they don't know right from wrong and that the road to wisdom is really paved with ignorance and being wrong. Those self proclaimed know it alls annoy me and are just 'no it alls' to me. They are the ones who should never be a scientist since they are not friends with ignorance.


That Mike is worthy of being Emperor and knows everthing is a fine parody of this phenomenon almost as good as the 2000 year old man.

There are lots of ways into the old MOAB, but still no one route to let you see it all. You can search on a member (or prior to the change in BS policy, guests) and see what they posted there. I've found pages at a time. But I still can't load the whole thread.

I hate to think of what they might be grazing on in the back yard that is possibly the reason for this.

Into the dragon's den this afternoon, to complete the demonstration tour for a docent course I've been taking since February. It's now or never, because the instructor is retiring as of tomorrow, and who knows when they'll hire someone else to do the job. There are aspects of working with this person that makes her retirement a desirable thing, and that makes this last test not only one to show what I've learned, but also my ability to speak and bite my tongue simultaneously. I may stop by the Legion Hovel to buy a round afterwards.

Keb, they're still in distribution. Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, the Food Bank, a local endeavor called "Wall of Warmth," some went to the Shosone-Bannock Reservation, some to the Nez Perce, some to the Lemhi Shoshone, and the local School District. "Local" in this case means anyone who needs a warm coat. The local Catholic parish took a case to keep in the office because they have people walk in who need on. Likewise the Central Christian Church, the Methodists, the Lutherans (including the Lutheran School), and the LDS.

Out here everyone tried to work together under the assumption "If you're cold, you're cold and race, religion, politics, or anything else is irrelevant."

I send extra garden food and groceries I pick up at my discount grocer to a community fridge. Were I to tuck bagged new jackets into the pantry beside the fridge, people who need them would take them. It's an honor system, but it does seem to be working, and the thought that people who need food also need warm jackets is a logical one.

Not BS. The BS is what I just posted in the declutter thread, about the woman (soon to retire) who has her favorites in the docent course she teaches, and I'm not one of her favorites, so she is making my completion of the course difficult. My daughter told me about her way back when, and I figured I could just take the high ground, play along and ignore the bad behavior and get through the course, but she's being a PITA. After she retires this will be a pretty good place to work - two of the most troublesome staff leaving in one year. (The other marched out in a huff last spring after the HR folks told him - again - that he couldn't keep walking into rooms and talking to people without wearing a mask.) Once he was gone - the stories people told - and wondered how he ever lasted so long. Karma was made for these folks - if you are lucky you get to see it at work, but for now, that she's leaving is going to be enough.

Those who need a coat may have the same question as you and don't have an i phone to do a google search so you gotta deliver them where 'they' are. Tent cities, encampments under bridges certain districts will not be that hard to find. In San Francisco the homeless are often in vehicles or sidewalks.

Yes, we'll contact the homeless shelter, the local food bank, the local St. Vincent de Paul's, the Veterans Home, churches, the school district -- some are even going to the Shoshone-Bannock Reservation. Others have been sent to other towns, such as those up near the Nez Perce Reservation.

It's an odd situation when you have a hard time giving away good coats! But we'll get them to those who need them. Don't want no cold folks in this here town, ya see?
