Carotid stents are not his treatment of choice. He opens the artery, uses a plunger first and then a Roto-rooter machine and hopes he doesn't bust the pipe.

Seriously, he said stents can cause plaque to build up on the surface. I have to believe the surgeon because I'm not up to doing this myself.

Mom, I woke up with a numb left arm this morning. I got to ride in an ambulance to the horsespittle and they did scans and all and found I'd had a stroke (not of good luck). I'm going to get my right carotid artery reamed out on the 16th because the surgeon said that it's full of "junk" -- a medical term, so you'll have to look it up. Tomorrow is an echocardiogram and pre-op is Friday the 13th and surgery (that is, the throatcutting) is Monday the 16th.

We'd planned to stay home for Thanksgiving anyway this year.

Pat dropped our ballots off in early October and yes, they've been accepted. As I drive past the Elections Office I see at least four, and usually more, people going in to vote early. I'm a little annoyed by the political signs outside the office, urging us to vote for someone with the surname "Here." Whoever this "Here" is, he or she certainly wasn't on my ballot!

I researched the candidates online (https://www.lwv.org/elections/vote411) then sat at the kitchen table and filled out my ballot. I mailed it at the post office in late September and it arrived on Oct. 2. It has been accepted so will be counted.
