An inquiry was made. The quilt in question uses stitching, appliqué, piecework, photo transfer, and painting—pretty much all the techniques and is a beautiful example of making them work together.

I asked two quilt and textile experts. The both said “paint and photo transfer, then the image quilted to basting and back.” It’s still a quilt.

We have had to install both additional support posts AND floor jacks. There is a LOT of fabric and only God knows how many new and old (at least one 18th Century) quilts. Three completed since 1/1/2023.

We have a long arm but an inlaw has a giant long arm.
There is stitching creating a background pattern that is not easily seen. I have never looked this close before. Meanwhile, Linus cloth for blankets occupies 4 rooms.

Appliqué is stitched. It it one shape stitched to another piece of cloth. A good quilter/appliquerer can put 50 stitches to the inch and a long-arm machine can do more.

You may be right. In the close up photo of just one figure it is at least 20 pieces and no micro stitching is visible. The wrinkles in the trousers were a darker shade of 8 pieces. The effect is much nicer than a mosaic.

You mean Villeneuve’s “Fabulous Welcome”? Without seeing it in person, I think it looks to be appliqué and not totally piecework. Interesting subject matter and a nice exhibition. I hope it comes to the IQSM in Lincoln.

Tomorrow morning I go out to the shooting range to teach a woman how to use a .32ACP Beretta Bobcat (Model 2032). She's a single mom and manages the bar and dining facilities at the Elks Lodge. She WANTS to learn, so I'll teach. I'll teach her safety and the legalities of gun ownership as well as how to hit what she shoots at. Her daughter, while in college in Portland and working at Alberson's supermarket, had to tase three different people (she moves to Moscow this fall).

I will take a lever action .22 rifle, a bolt action 5.56x45mm rifle, two 9mm semiautomatic pistols, and two .22 Long Rifle revolvers. My intent is to acquaint her with different firearms so she can know how to use them safely and without fear.

I have been shooting for 66 years come September. I have all my life advocated rational gun control. If my being a gun owner bothers you, I shan't apologize as I find competition shooting at targets (paper, etc.) a good sport where I compete against me.

From Newtown to 63 dead in Los Vegas to the gun crises today I recall old dude, a gun enthusiast, calling for gun reform.
I have never seen a certain someone who speaks often about their gun lust ever write about a need for gun reform. That is a degree of not caring that could be found repugnant and pathological. Is it my peculiar memory or is it an ultimate not caring by an otherwise kind and funny eldest son?

So a white nationalist is released in the capitol building and puts the FBI, CIA, and Florida State Police in charge of tracking down and returning the white nationalist.

The FBI goes in first, and after questioning all sources concludes that White Nationalists are everywhere, look like everyone else and spent years going over the videotape.

The CIA go in second and after a month decides it is a conspiracy theory and the FBI is in on it so they stop their investigation.

The Police go in and come out ten minutes later with a badly beaten up black man saying "ok, ok I'm a white Nationalist."

Icelandic Mushroom Soup
(It really is delicious -- your friend, Rap)

Ingredients

    400 g Icelandic mushrooms or fresh field mushrooms
    2 White onions
    100 g Dried mushrooms
    200 g Mixed frozen mushrooms ceps, porcini or similar
    5 tbsp Vegetable oil
    300 g Butter
    100 g Plain white flour
    100 ml White wine
    100 ml Madeira
    500 ml Water
    2 L Double or heavy cream
    3 tbsp Mushroom powder

Instructions

Method

    Slice the mushrooms and onions thinly.
    Take a large heavy-based saucepan and gently heat the oil.
    Gently fry the fresh mushrooms, onions and frozen mushrooms for 5 min.
    Pour all the wine into the pan and let it boil until the wine has reduced to almost nothing.
    Add the water to the pan.
    Now add the dried mushrooms and stir.
    Add the mushroom powder into the pan and let the mixture boil for 20 min.
    Now add the cream into the pot and let it simmer for 60 min.
    In a small pan place 100 g of butter, heat gently and let it melt, then add flour into it and combine it together to make a roux. Whisk the roux mixture into the soup and continue whisking until the soup thickens.
    Let the soup simmer for 10 min and then add the remaining 200 g of the butter.
    Blitz the soup with a hand-held blender.
    Season with salt and pepper, also it is very good to add a little bit of sherry vinegar at the end.
