Because of what I call Forest Gump like coincidence I have known Mob bosses all my life starting with the big boss meeting in my hometown of Appalacain NY , between Owego and Vestal. I have seen bosses get away with crimes via witness tampering or murder, but only at first. Eventually the boss gets caught red handed or eliminated.

As a therapist in pre Soprano times I had a Mob boss from Irondiquoit as a client during the A team B team wars in NY. He brought his body guard with him for his session. When my secretary came in the back door with McDonalds there was a dramatic moment.

I even heard the long drawn out roar of an explosion of the car that killed a different boss, I accidently learned that the police knew of the hit ahead of time. Later a nurse who treated the boss who was car bombed told me he was in one piece but died slowly of pressure induced massive capillary bleed.

A previous tenent left a list of victims that had already been eliminated and the list was found under the sink. Against all odds I even met Mr. Gambino and others via car dealership associations in Buffalo NY.

There were more shocking coincidences that I hesitate to mention that the police wanted me to cover up. It involved the mob stealing back evidence and heroin from a State Police station. I had the recording of the details off a special radio receiver that preceded microwave telephones. What seemed to stop these string of coincidences
was simply getting married and retiring from hypnosis.

Anyway Trump is a bit like a mob boss and I expect he will face a similar fate once loyalty becomes too costly.

Has it ever occurred to you that years don't get to have birthdays? When they get to be a year old, POOF! They're gone!

Just when we've gotten* used to having a year around, someone kills it off and foists a new one on us.

Don't plan on making a cake that says, "Happy Birthday 2020!" You'd be wasting your time.

What if they did that with puppies? "Here's a cute little puppy, kid, but don't get too attached to it. A year from now, we're gonna kill it and give you a new one!"

I wonder if 2020 knows that it's doomed? Eleven months from now and it's gonna be defenestrated.


* Have you noticed that our British cousins have abandoned "gotten" as the past participle of "get" and use "got" for both past and past participle? Still sounds wrong to me.)

Yes, on December 31st, they'll coax 2020 way up high in some skyscraper overlooking Times Square. "Come one, 2020, you've gotta see this cool disco ball! And this is the best viewpoint in the world!"

And as soon as that glittery ball starts dropping, they'll push poor old 2020 out a window. And nobody will notice or care. They'll be so busy being all goo-goo over cute little 2021 that they won't even see 2020's poor carcass lying on the sidewalk smashed so flat it'll make a pancake look like a major mountain range.

We live in a bungalow. (Everyone in UK calls our type of house by this Hindi/Urdu word, derived from 'bangla') Bungalows used to be regarded/disparaged as houses for the elderly, being on one floor only. But I've seen recently that young families prize them, having no stairs and quite large gardens. Ours has gone up considerably in value during the last ten years. (up by £50,000!!!)
There are dozens of words from the Raj days in our language. Gymkhana, juggernaut, chutney etc.

What's unique about 02/02/2020 is that it's a palindrome in all four date notation formats. It doesn't matter if you use dd/mm/yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy, yyyy/dd/mm, or yyyy/mm/dd.

Next year, there'll be a palindrome date (12/02/2021) but it will indicate December 2nd in mm/dd/yyyy and February 12th in dd/mm/yyyy, and doesn't work in either year-first format.

The next "universal" palindrome date will be 03/03/3030. I don't plan on being around to see it.

"Bungalow" is a very good word. But I don't see it replacing "cabin" as a trope in American country and bluegrass music. "There's a bungalow in the pines..." doesn't quite have that bluegrass thang goin' on.

I suppose we could make a concerted effort to have The Beatles' "Bungalow Bill" elevated to bluegrass standard status, but we'd probably meet some resistance from the Bill Monroe worshiping hardcore purist crowd.

According to my calculations, based on an average lunar month length of roughly 29.53 days, there will be thirteen full moons in about one year out of three.

By that website's criteria, I suppose the fact that the last day of this year falls on a Thursday is an even bigger deal since it only happens one year out of seven.

By the way, the real reason the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl is that I brought them good luck by attending one of their games (the only football game of any kind I've attended since graduating from high school). Funny; I was talking to a guy at Petsmart the other day about pickup trucks. He had an old one that turned out to be only 1993. I had a 1980 three-in-the-tree F100 I finally sold in about 1997. As he remarked - it had a great straight six - around which I had always thought there was enough room under the hood to store luggage (if it had been enclosed in a way to keep it in).

I had two F-100 pickups, a '64 and a '77. Both had straight sixes, three-speed column shifters, and enough room under the hood to pitch a tent. But neither had rich Corinthian leather upholstery! In fact, I'm not sure the '64 had any upholstery at all. It had seats, but what was on top of those seats might well have been a dog's blanket that the dog threw out.

That truck had rather high ladder racks on it that once caused it to get stuck in a parking garage. I had to let about half the air out of the tires to get it unstuck.

With the large fleet of luxury cruise ships currently banned from docking at any port due to corona virus infected passengers, It has been suggested they should all tie up together and form an artificial floating island. Logisticaly it would simplify delivering supplies.

I've figured out what's going on with Betelgeuse! It's Gluon!

Gluon is* on vacation in the Betelgeuse neighborhood and has met and is attempting to mate with a dogduck! A dogduck, of course, is the antiparticle to a duckdog. Their attempts at mating are releasing huge numbers of photons and anti-photons which are producing the variances in Betelgeuse's observed brightness. If their mating is successful, the resulting pressure wave from the matter/antimatter annihilation will result in the destruction of the entire constellation of Orion!

After a few million years, the remnants of Orion will coalesce into a new constellation known as Anas Canis (Duck Dog) in our universe and Canis Anas (Dog Duck) in whatever universe the dogduck came from.

* When we say "is", please bear in mind that Betelgeuse is some 700 light years from earth. Since Gluon transcends time and space he/she is there both right now and 700 years ago at the same time. Otherwise, we'd have to wait 700 years to see the resulting super-duper-nova. Gluon can get around the confines of relativity, but light cannot.
