Well as you know there is a war on. The Corporal just brought in some pancake bisquits and fresh unknown leaf tea. The self isolation in our unit is pretty severe since we don't even allow eye contact.
Sgt. Felix Shadwell still has a cast on his left hand but manages guitar quite well with 2 fingers still exposed and can play most chords by applying his one front tooth on the E string. Playing revelie on a halting guitar is not good for morale but its better than nothing.

After breakfast I ordered Steve Shaw to be washed and brought to my tent for interrogation. We are planning a scouting expedition to a store alledged to have supplies. With any luck the intelligence will end with a raiding party that might even find electricity to charge our devices. We've been using induction charging by rubbing a balloon on our hair and touching the phone. We're running out of balloons and need more but Shadwell discovered inflated condoms work even better.

From a physical standpoint, 2020 has been a relatively injury and trauma free year for me. But I'm going to buy a couple of new outdoor tools today and 2020 still has 231 pays to catch up.

Wood chippers and chain saws are the way to go.
Weed whackers and hedge trimmers are for wimps.

'231 pays'
I recognize p as an upside down backwards d. My mancave has 2 large mirrors at right angles to allow views from 4 different couch/body positions, 2 of which are backward and demands a D'Vinci like ability to read backwards. Reading backwards is no problem but words over 7 letters are still time consuming.

Using double prismatic goggles will allow an upside down backward visual field which makes using power tools far more exciting.

Have fun.

I think the trauma this year is psychic and is huge; for real serendipity you can't go wrong with a double-headed axe, though power tools can be epic. Consider Robert Frost's Out, out–. I read that one to my kids a number of times as we worked our way through Frost poetry collections at bedtime (we read at bedtime until they were in high school; that would have been the thing of nightmares for small children.)

Mr. Wagner was more round than tall and had a backyard as steep as 45 degrees. He labored at digging a double terrace. When he got older he decided to use extra long railroad ties to trim the vertical earth that wanted to give way. He should have used stone but railroad ties seemed better. The work was harder the older he got and he liked his beer.
By the time he finished he had handcut and fit nearly 50 rail road ties.
He averaged one lost finger every five rail road ties since the saw would bind and surprise him. Today the job is done and Mr. Wagner has his thumbs and one finger.
The moral of this story is that perspiration and perseverence
is foolish when it becomes severence, go finger.

When I took a wood shop class in high school, I learned that the tool responsible for the most injuries is not the table saw or the band saw or the lathe, but the wood chisel. Everyone thinks it's simple and safe so they get careless.

My mother read us

The little toy dog is covered with dust,
    But sturdy and staunch he stands;
The little toy soldier is red with rust,
    And his musket molds in his hands.
Time was when the little toy dog was new
    And the soldier was passing fair;
And that was the time when our Little Boy Blue
    Kissed them and put them there.

“Now, don’t you go till I come,” he said,
    “And don’t you make any noise!”
So, toddling off to his trundle-bed,
    He dreamed of the pretty toys;
And as he was dreaming, an angel song
    Awakened our Little Boy Blue —
Oh! the years are many, the years are long,
    But the little toy friends are true!

Aye, faithful to Little Boy Blue they stand,
    Each in the same old place —
Awaiting the touch of a little hand,
    And the smile of a little face;
And they wonder, as waiting these long years through
    In the dust of that little chair,
What has become of our Little Boy Blue
    Since he kissed them and put them there.

And also

Little Orphant Annie's come to our house to stay,
An' wash the cups and saucers up, an' brush the crumbs away,
An' shoo the chickens off the porch, an' dust the hearth, an' sweep,
An' make the fire, an' bake the bread, an* earn her board-an'-keep;
An' all us other children, when the supper things is done,
We set around the kitchen fire an' has the mostest fun
A-list'nin' to the witch-tales 'at Annie tells about,
An' the Gobble-uns 'at gits you
?Ef you
?Don't
?Watch
?Out!

Onc't they was a little boy wouldn't say his pray'rs—
An' when he went to bed at night, away up-stairs,
His mammy heerd him holler, an' his daddy heerd him bawl,
An' when they turn't the kivvers down, he wasn't there at all!
An' they seeked him in the rafter-room, an* cubby-hole, an' press,
An' seeked him up the chimbly flue, an' ever'wheres, I guess;
But all they ever found was thist his pants an' roundabout!
An' the Gobble-uns'll git you
?Ef you
?Don't
?Watch
?Out!

An' one time a little girl 'ud allus laugh an' grin,
An' make fun of ever' one, an' all her blood-an'-kin;
An' onc't when they was "company," an' ole folks was there,
She mocked 'em an' shocked 'em, an' said she didn't care!
An' thist as she kicked her heels, an' turn't to run an' hide,
They was two great big Black Things a-standin' by her side,
An' they snatched her through the ceilin' 'fore she knowed what she's about!
An' the Gobble-uns'll git you
?Ef you
?Don't
?Watch
?Out!

An' little Orphant Annie says, when the blaze is blue,
An' the lamp wick sputters, an' the wind goes woo-oo!
An' you hear the crickets quit, an' the moon is gray,
An' the lightnin'-bugs in dew is all squenched away,
You better mind yer parents, an' yer teachers fond an' dear,
An' churish them 'at loves you, an' dry the orphant's tear,
An' he'p the pore an' needy ones 'at clusters all about,
Er the Gobble-uns'll git you
?Ef you
?Don't
?Watch
?Out!

Ah! With the first three words the song popped into my head. I can't read it without singing. Eugene Field, Little Boy Blue - that was one of my favorite songs that my father sang. He also put another Field poem to music, "The Little Peach." That one was a little more sinister.

Folk songs are full of love, violence, gore, murder, drama . . . I'm sure it's why I have a great love of murder mysteries now. :)

A LITTLE peach in the orchard grew,—
A little peach of emerald hue;
Warmed by the sun and wet by the dew,
                   It grew.

One day, passing that orchard through,
That little peach dawned on the view
Of Johnny Jones and his sister Sue—
                   Them two.

Up at that peach a club they threw—
Down from the stem on which it grew
Fell that peach of emerald hue.
                   Mon Dieu!

John took a bite and Sue a chew,
And then the trouble began to brew,—
Trouble the doctor could n't subdue.
                   Too true!

Under the turf where the daisies grew
They planted John and his sister Sue,
And their little souls to the angels flew,—
                   Boo hoo!

What of that peach of the emerald hue,
Warmed by the sun, and wet by the dew?
Ah, well, its mission on earth is through.
                   Adieu!

We Are Seven
By William Wordsworth
———A simple Child,
That lightly draws its breath,
And feels its life in every limb,
What should it know of death?

I met a little cottage Girl:
She was eight years old, she said;
Her hair was thick with many a curl
That clustered round her head.

She had a rustic, woodland air,
And she was wildly clad:
Her eyes were fair, and very fair;
—Her beauty made me glad.

“Sisters and brothers, little Maid,
How many may you be?”
“How many? Seven in all,” she said,
And wondering looked at me.

“And where are they? I pray you tell.”
She answered, “Seven are we;
And two of us at Conway dwell,
And two are gone to sea.

“Two of us in the church-yard lie,
My sister and my brother;
And, in the church-yard cottage, I
Dwell near them with my mother.”

“You say that two at Conway dwell,
And two are gone to sea,
Yet ye are seven! I pray you tell,
Sweet Maid, how this may be.”

Then did the little Maid reply,
“Seven boys and girls are we;
Two of us in the church-yard lie,
Beneath the church-yard tree.”

“You run about, my little Maid,
Your limbs they are alive;
If two are in the church-yard laid,
Then ye are only five.”

“Their graves are green, they may be seen,”
The little Maid replied,
“Twelve steps or more from my mother’s door,
And they are side by side.

“My stockings there I often knit,
My kerchief there I hem;
And there upon the ground I sit,
And sing a song to them.

“And often after sun-set, Sir,
When it is light and fair,
I take my little porringer,
And eat my supper there.

“The first that died was sister Jane;
In bed she moaning lay,
Till God released her of her pain;
And then she went away.

“So in the church-yard she was laid;
And, when the grass was dry,
Together round her grave we played,
My brother John and I.

“And when the ground was white with snow,
And I could run and slide,
My brother John was forced to go,
And he lies by her side.”

“How many are you, then,” said I,
“If they two are in heaven?”
Quick was the little Maid’s reply,
“O Master! we are seven.”

“But they are dead; those two are dead!
Their spirits are in heaven!”
’Twas throwing words away; for still
The little Maid would have her will,
And said, “Nay, we are seven!”

"Dead Babies" - Alice Cooper

Little Betty ate a pound of aspirin
She got them from the shelf upon the wall
Betty's mommy wasn't there to save her
She didn't hear, hear her little baby call

Dead babies can't take care of themselves
Dead babies can't take things off the shelf
Well, we didn't want you anyway
Lalala-lalalalalala-la

Daddy is an agrophile in Texas
Mommy's on the bar most every night
Little Betty's sleeping in the graveyard
Living there in burgundy and white

Dead babies can't take care of themselves
Dead babies can't take things off the shelf
Well, we didn't love you anyway
Lalala-lalalalalala-la

Goodbye little Betty
Goodbye little Betty
So long little Betty
So long little Betty
Betty, so long

Dead babies can't take care of themselves
Dead babies can't take things off the shelf
Well, we didn't need you anyway
Lalala-lalalalalala-la

Goodbye little Betty

I remember how my girl friend Linda found me and was more upset than me. I was more surprised than upset.
2% of medications are vaccines compared with all other drugs.
That may temporarily change soon.
Internet nuts like Jenny McCarthy are so anti vaccine I just didn't want to besmerch vaccines in any way, but rushing to a vaccine is a lesson well learned now.

Father, dear Father, come home with me now;
The clock in the steeple strikes one.
You said you were coming right home from the shop,
As soon as your day's work was done.
The fire is all out, the house is all dark,
And Mother's been watching since tea,
With poor little Benny so sick in her arms,
And no one to help her but me.

Chorus: Come home, come home, come home;
Please, Father, dear Father, come home.

Father, dear Father, come home with me now;
The clock in the steeple strikes two.
The night has grown colder and Benny is worse,
But he has been calling for you.
Indeed, he is worse; Ma says he will die,
Perhaps before morning shall dawn,
And this is the message she sent me to bring:
Please, Father, dear Father, come home.

Father, dear Father, come home with me now;
The clock in the steep strikes three.
The house is so lonely, the hours are so long,
For poor weeping Mother and me.
Yes, we are alone; poor Benny is dead
And gone with the angels of light.
And these are the very last words that he said:
"I want to kiss Papa goodnight."

(Chorus)

My father is a drunkard,
My mother, she is dead;
And I am just an orphan child,
No place to lay my head;
All through this world I wander,
They drive me from their door,
Some day I'll find a welcome
On Heaven's golden shore.

Now if to me you'll listen,
I'll tell my story sad;
How drinking rum and gambling
Hell Has stole away my dad;
My mother is in heaven,
Where God and the angels smile;
And now I know she's watching
Her lonely orphan child.

We all were once so happy,
And had a happy home;
Till dad, he went to drinking rum,
And then he gambled some;
He left my darling mother,
She died of a broken heart;
And as I tell my story,
I see your tear-drops start.

Don't weep for me and mother,
although' I know 'tis said;
But try to get someone to cheer
And save my poor lonely dad;
"I'm awful cold and hungry,"
She closed her eyes and sighed;
Then those who heard her story,
Knew the orphan child has died.

I'm alone, all alone, my friends all have fled
My father's a drunkard, my mother is dead.
I'm a poor little girl, I wonder and weep
For the voice of my mother to sing me to sleep.
She sleeps on the hill, in a bed made of clay
How cold it did seem to lay mother away.
She's gone with the angels, and none do I see
So dear as the face of my mother to me.

cho: I'm a little lone girl in this cold world so wild,
God look down and pity the drunkard's lone child.
Look down and pity, Oh soon come to me
Take me to dwell with mother and Thee.

We were so happy till father drank rum;
Then aII our sorrows and troubles begun.
Mother grew paler and wept every day;
Baby and I were too hungry to pIay.
SIowIy they faded and one summer night
Found their sweet faces aIl silent and white
And with big tears sIowIy dropping I said,
"Father's a drunkard and mother is dead."

Oh, if some temperance workers could find
Poor wretched father and speak very kind,
If they could stop him from drinking, why then,
I would feel very happy again.
Is it too Iate? Men of temperance, please try,
For poor littIe Bessie will soon starve and die.
All day Iong I've been begging for bread.
Father's a drunkard and mother is dead.

Well, since the theme seems to have shifted from dead children to orphaned children....

And I actually sing this one.

EVERY BUSH AND TREE

I was born in old Missouri.
My family they were poor.
My mother's name was Laura
And daddy his name was Joe.

Mama called me to her bedside
Saying, "Son, I've got to go.
But we'll meet again up yonder
Where the parting will be no more."

I hear the soft wind creepin'
Through every bush and tree.
I know my mother's waiting
In her heavenly home for me.

Now, Daddy moved back home to North Fork
And he left us here all alone.
And the sheriff came by one evening
And he took us to an orphan's home.

So come all you orphan children,
Who's left down here below,
We'll go and meet our mothers
Where the parting will be no more.

I hear the soft wind creepin'
Through every bush and tree.
I know my mother's waiting
In her heavenly home for me.

No! We can't let Mom be pushed upstairs! It's too dangerous! She might have one of her "fainting spells" and fall down the stairs. You know the "spells" I'm talking about, right? The ones that sometimes afflict Mom somewhere between the second and third empty gin bottle.

She would have a hard time with the altitude, start breathing heavily, and we all know what happens next. Right! Someone calls the ambulance and she tests positive and...and...we're never told what she's positive for. Then we go see the lawyer (Taker, Monee, and Runne, Attorneys at Law) and go through that who rigamarole about getting her out of the "Hospital" again.

We are arriving at 100,000 deaths a month early on June 1st.
Thats a third of all the corona deaths in the world.
WHY?
By Presidential order 29 states are reopening and no mask is a symbol of bravery and Freedom. The CDC has been cut and fired into oblivion.
The WHO had been defunded by the USA.
The pandemic has been declared a hoax and now its all Obama's fault.
Fox news says take the RED pill like in the Matrix and that the only problem we have is a lockdown by Democrats.

When a virus has an R value of 3 and a third of the country exposes themselves, the rates can only climb. People believe they are bigger than a virus and they would be foolishly RIGHT.

[Verse 1]
I've got it man, it holds my breath down
What goes around really goes around
I walk alone, my days are still good
But I still can't breathe the way I should

[Chorus]
This is the loneliest disease
I've got the loneliest disease
Ah, ah, ah
I don't like who I've become
It is hard to take or keep my breath
Ah, ah, ah
Lonely disease, loneliest death

[Verse 2]
When I try, I try my best
I know I would not expect anything less
I do myself up, make sure I look good
I wait to get better but not as good as it should

[Chorus]
This is the loneliest disease
I've got the loneliest disease
Ah, ah, ah
I don't like who I've become
It is hard to take or keep my breath
Ah, ah, ah
Lonely disease, loneliest death

Verse 1
Uh huh it's the plague
Gonna kill you in a few days
A pandemic so severe
The Black Death Caused such horror and fear
And there ain't no cure for that girl
You'll be dead in no time flat girl
You'll get acral necrosis
From the Yersinia Pestis
And it makes your tongue all black girl
Gonna bury out in back girl

Hook
Ooh, Fleas on rats (X5)

Verse 2
Started in China, don't know how
But the Mongols used Biological Warfare
At Kaffa hurled the Italians at Geonesse
The Italians fled back to Sicily
And in 1347
The Black Death said hello to Europe
In infected fleas
From port cities along trade roads
Buboes swelling in the nodes
And it spread real fast like that girl
Better flee when you see a rat girl
People livin for the now, bro
Like that Book by Boccaccio
Oh you could be a [?] girl

[Hook]
Ooh, Fleas on rats (X5)

Verse 3
5 kilometers a day
And in 5 years
Killed two-thirds of the population
Some blamed the lepers or Jews
Did they poison the wells?
It led to peasant revolts
Loss of faith
And some serious persecution
People carried out patches of herbs
to protect them from the smell
Doctor's didn't know what caused it
Bolt your door if your family's afflicted
Bodies in the cart girl
Skeletons in the art girl
But the decreased population
led to amelioration
Of the peasant folk, hey
they could ask for more pay

[Hook]
Ooh, Fleas on rats (X5)

Verse 4
Let me hear you say
This plague is bubonic
B-U-B-O-N-I-C
This plague is bubonic
B-U-B-O-N-I-C
This plague is bubonic
B-U-B-O-N-I-C
This plague is bubonic
B-U-B-O-N-I-C
A pandemic so severe
The Black Death Caused such horror and fear
And there ain't no cure for that girl
You'll be dead in no time flat girl
You'll get acral necrosis
From the Yersinia Pestis
And it makes your tongue all black girl
Gonna bury out in back girl

[Hook]
Ooh, Fleas on rats (X5)

Well, damn. MOM took a bottle of single malt Scotch and a glass and stomped out onto the screened in porch to rock on the glider and think about Micca. RIP, little big man.

Covid 19 in quarantine is a silent disease
Bubonic victims screamed loudly right before death

In quarantine, in quarantine
Everyone hears you when you scream.
With BUBONIC your screams are moronic
In Quarantine

You will fall down now.
and bang your head now.
When the buboes swell,
The pain is worse than hell

In quarantine people did scream.
Its an extreme dream
it burned worse than streamed steam
In quarantine

Anyone name "Michael" is taken immediately to the heaven of his or her own choice. This is in the Bible, the Quran, the Baghavid Gita, the saying of the Buddha, and every other relevant source of spiritual and secular literature. It's even found (go on, look for it!) in Teschi's Mathematical Methods in Quantum Mechanics with Applications to Schrödinger Operators.

So? Do you think that no contagious disease threatens first-world countries?

We currently have a hemmorragic epidemic in the US that only wild rabbits die from.
In the US we are more likely to get a touch of the plague by contact and not fleas. Penacilain allows a quick cure, most of the time.

Like Trump I'm not a doctor but I stayed in a Holiday Inn.

I heard on one of the MSNBC programs last night that because of the social distancing there are fewer cases of colds and such going around. There are a few rays of sunshine.

More Solar X rays reach your body and damage your DNA than gamma rays from super novas. They effect our evolution and life span. If we had a red dwarf Sol, our life span could seem immortal in comparison. Aliens from dim planets should also have large eyes but I have never seen one.
Rays of sunshine are a mixed bag.

We have been under attack for quite some time, with Them bombarding us with their ray-weapons. YOU think it's sunshine, but the Idaho Legion knows better. That's why the Secret Space Defense Headquarters is buried in an old copper mine near Inkom. It's camouflaged as the Bannock County Land Fill.

Copper mines are not as mobile as tin foil hats.

Its a sad season for TV's '24'
Jack Baur has virtually died from Coronovirus.
The show may go without him.
This has Donald rethinking masks.

MOM wants to make a tinfoil helmet and mail it to The Donald. I told her it would clash with the orange he sprays on his face (except for his eyelids, where he puts a couple of little lid covers every morning - and seems to think the world can't tell that's what he's doing?)

I've tried readjusting the color on my TV to no avail as the skin around Trump's eyes, where there is no bronzer, keeps turning more blue than the usual pasty white.

Due to his makeup he has always had the opposite look of a raccoon around his eyes but he really looks sick now.

To be fair some others like Nancy Pelosi looks like they are wearing a
mask.

Nancy Pelosi on MSNBC tonight was not very well lit or she'd look like her usual self. All of this home reporting means people have various types of light fixtures in the rooms and the color of the light can make a huge difference in the appearance on a broadcast or in photographs.

Good old Archie McPhee. Located in the neighborhood where several family members have resided over the years. Nice area.

My father married a pure Navaho
My people were ashamed where ever we go
The Indians said I was white by law
The White Man always called me "Indian Squaw"
Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born
We never settled, went from town to town
When you're not welcome you don't hang around
The other children always laughed at me
"Give her a feather, she's Navaho"
Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born
We weren't accepted and I felt ashamed
Nineteen I left them, tell me who's to blame
My life since then is reservations
But I can't run away from what I am
Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born
si lence, that's all that I hear
Si lence, cuz the virus killed them all
Si lence, with no intensive care
Now one side's against me till the day that I fall

Poor Mom! All her kids are off having Memorial Day weekend fun and she's sitting here neglected.

No, wait! The kids aren't having fun! There's still a pandemic! They're staying home and being bored!

So, what's their excuse now?
