Regarding 'my guy' I told him the first rule of fight club is fight club and asked if he was a patriot. He was convinced I was the real deal and on his side. Then I asked if he was 'there'. He said he was in the hospital from lung clots from double pnumonia and Covid. In 3 minutes he had traced his ancestry gathered from his late father back to the 18th century. Some of his relatives were classical musicians, one saw the Reichstad burn and grandad was on Normandy beach and the bulge.
He's another example that high intelligence does not guarantee rationlity. Or a salesman profession amplifies the ability to lie.
I have always been intrigued by borderline personalities like his.

I spent an hour with an anti vaxxer and Q Anon sympathizer.
I soon had him off auto pilot and into full disclosure mode.
He believed I shared most of his mind set but not all.
He hated communist Jews and ethnics in his town of Falls Church who others would consider to be progressives. He bragged how Q has been right about everything. There is the possibility that he was saying things he thought I wanted to hear but I'm very certain he was full goose committed to his anti government cause. His only reference to Trump was at the end when he asked if my middle initial was J. I said I'm too old to be a John. I can ask later if he is a patriot and if he was there.

Cletus has been feeling poorly lately. He's heard bad things about the vaccine so he tried a flash light up his bum. No change so he gave hydroxychloroquin a try, nothing. He gave into expensive cures like taking Mike Lindell's oleander oil for a week. Now he had cramps so the new drug of choice on Fox news is a horse deworming pill. Whowee it had a kick.
Maybe Chlorox would have settled his stomach but he got wind of a conspiracy theory about rigging full approval for the 'Vaccine' so he ate some 'Wax Bean' instead. He's feeling much better now.

September, a very busy month, starts next week. At one time, the IN MY DAY end of things, school used to start in September, the day after Labor Day. I always felt like my kids were short-changed on summer because they had to go to school in August (unless there was an unusual heat spell, in which case one year they started later because of the cost of power to run the school air conditioning system in August.)

While the Darwin Effect does work slowly, we -could- be one varient away from a 90% reduction in population which will be benificial to climate change, but the irreversible chain of events will only slow a bit and will continue since 25% OF THE Northern hemisphere is permafrost. That permafrost has melted! The now rotting organic matter of carbon is being released by microbes.
Permafrost is not just a thin layer, it can be as deep as coal and is not refreezing in areas over the winter. It will not matter to our kids if this observation is ignored or critisized. Were not talking about great great grand children facing extreme heat anymore, this is going to be quicker beyond anything we can do. All we can do is buy time since the carbon release will exceed all oil deposit release, forest fires, and man made control of carbon release. Sorry guys game over but some will survive.

That image is lovely - and a great way to cleanse the palate after all of the talk of covert information gathering. I've saved the image to the folder that I have my screensaver plugged into; I see a lot of stellar formations and the surface of Mars, with occasional great works of art and fall landscapes. This inspired me to go clean out that folder (there were duplicates) and I look forward to the next time the saver comes on. My desktop background is tracks in the sand from one of the Mars rovers; maybe I should consider changing out the view.

If someone doesn't care if s/he lives or dies the only way to stop them is to kill them. Vide the kamikaze, the people who blow themselves up, those who flew into the Twin Towers, those who commit suicide by police, and others. IF they could be captured or found before plans are brought to completion they might be helped or at least segregated from doing harm. Of course, if someone believes that their death will serve a higher good (kamikaze, martyr, patriot), well, fanaticism will find a way even though it may be years later.

It's usually a waste of time to try to argue and change the mind of a True Believer unless you are very, very good.

Donuel, why don't you think that the ranks of the Proud Boys, 3 percenters, KKK, American Nazi Party, and others aren't infiltrated by the FBI like during the Sixties? It has come out in the Jan 6 trials and confessions that more than a few of those arrested were informants. Besides, our 'locals' use FB, Twitter, and so on to communicate -- and these are not exactly private.

The most private way is to send a coded message in writing by a trusted courier (if you can find one). Check out the Son Tay raid or the messaging before the Battle of the Bulge. Of course, your courier must be willing to eat the message and/or die before spilling the beans. The NVA didn't expect problems moving the prisoners and so sent the message in the clear and my youngest brother (who was flying air intelligence for the Son Tay Raid) always felt that the NVA didn't "play fair" by not using electronic communications so he could find out what they were up to.

I'm not so much concerned with group activity (assuming intel is acted on) as I am about local actions by local nuts.
