The desktop photo on my computer has been a view of Mars from the rover. The tire tracks on a sandy dune and the mesa and mountains in the distances are evocative of a route across the old Wild West.

I'm thinking it's time to give another photo a chance, so have been searching for large images of my home region. It might make the desktop icons harder to find (that's one reason why Mars works so well).

I save large images in a folder that I point my screen saver to so I see these things come up for a little while after the computer has been inactive but not gone to sleep. I've been clearing out a backlog of online stored photos and I should look at those as a possible source of a desktop image also. I keep my phone and camera photos in files on the computer, but they're also backed up to several places and I don't need that many backup photos. And certainly not to pay for a couple of them, so before things renew, time to empty and turn them back to free sites.

MOM said to not get rid of the photos of the parties on the screened in front porch, and a handful from the Legion Hovel. I'm guessing she sees some income potential in a few of those.

As long as I am complaining, there is no quick Corporate profit margin concerning the health and wealth of our children. But War promises gigantic and fast corporate returns. Standard Operating Procedure has been to put kids on the conveyor belt of student loans and hope to collect for a lifetime.
The Biden bill will give free tuition to community college, free pre school, tax credts for every child mailed monthly, free covid vaccines and 350 billion more help every year for 10 years. Its a very buttery bill compared to the typical big gun pentagon budget.
republicans are shocked. Oh No not affordable and sustainable housing, energy and jobs!
If it passes, America will become a dynamic place again.

Even if we are past the tipping point its better to go down swinging. Instead of just responding to each and every global warming disaster its better to head it off the best we can.

Classifieds were the best regular source of income for newspapers for a century or more. And public notices published in the classifieds were the beating heart of the classifieds. I haven't looked at that part of a newspaper in ages to see if it is even still there.

We have tried to revise diversity at some Universites by having one cafe for people of color and a whites only cafe. Cultures do disintegrate into madness when they rebel against diversity as in the tradition of MAGA and progressives in the US. I have repeated my angst over the holocaust many times with mixed response and often none. I am typified as mad by a segment of the UK crowd in what could be called antidonualism. That reminds me how we have had no flies inside this summer. Not even a single fruit fly or an ant. What is different is that the pool was closed.

We were driving from Fairfield, Idaho back to Hailey a couple of months ago when we were stopped. We were stopped by a dog laying down in the middle of the road, facing our car. Then the cattle were moved across the highway (2 lane, US20) by cowboys on horseback and one in an ATV. When the cows were safely across, and they were reluctant to go, the dog in front of us and a partner blocking traffic on the other side of the crossing got up and ran to catch up with the herd.

The time I wish I'd stopped with my camera - I was driving south in Idaho and we approached a highway overpass at sunset and the cowboys on horseback were driving cattle across the top of the overpass and oh what a photo that would have been. But I still remember it all of these years later, so an impression was made one way or another.
