Today begins with MOM pouring bleach and water into the ceramic cups to clean out the tea stains. It's that kind of frumpy morning, I guess. Waiting for Oklahoma to spontaneously combust and the COVID-19 shrapnel from the explosion to hit the surrounding states. We've had thunderstorms in the region, last night was noisy and wet. Maybe a few of them will be washed away in flash floods (unless they heed the signs that say "turn around don't drown.") The storm before the storm.

The world seems particularly churlish for this year's greeting card holiday for fathers. Everyone would do well to give it a pass, step back, and try not to have a stroke.

Here it's raining again. I was going to walk the dogs, but then the weather interrupted, so we played fetch in the back yard for a few minutes instead. It's amazing how little dogs care about politics and can bring their humans back to a rational point of view simply by running around with toys in their mouths.

I cleaned the carpet in the front room - half of it so far, anyway. I'll let it dry completely then move some of the furniture onto that area and wash the rest. In there, the dogs seem to have run around with dirt (yes, clods of dirt they eat on the carpet) and sticks (from the yard) they chew up into tiny pieces. Toys in their mouths would be preferable.

There's a thread on the board about pet peeves. I have never had a pet peeve. All the peeves I encounter are quite feral. I wouldn't want to try to make a pet of a feral peeve. They bite and are difficult to house train.

I trained an old rose vine to climb a devil's walking stick tree so the tree blooms roses in June 30 feet high. Hybrids will bloom all summer though.

The Devil tree makes interesting canes.

By doing nothing, more people will get sick and die yet this is becoming the official policy in the US which is now passing its earlier all time high infection rate. This is because of the judgment that " we must not make the cure worse than the disease". So we open too early, force certain workers into infection chambers at work, roll back testing and contact tracing, have unmasked political gatherings inside and not supporting people who are unemployed. Go to crowded events and party. People are saying that those who die are already old or black... wink wink nudge nudge know what I mean?

We must even decide if we should try to save those who succumb to the virus at all if there are not enough beds, PPE or medical treatments.
We must not make treatment worse than the effect on the economy!
So go ahead and take no personal responsibility. DO NOT WEAR A MASK.

Not caring for the sick and dieing is easier than it sounds. It is the last viral intrusion on our lives. All that wasted money is saved. WE DON'T NEED TO BURY THE DEAD. Body removal has been shown to work best with ovens. Gas is cheap now, so take a flight and smirk. That reciculated air in a hypo baric pressure tube is less dangerous than an infected TSA agent. You can even take a cruise at half price.

It's dusty and windy and humid - a really odd combination. It's a stirred up atmosphere that seems to suit the mood lately. I have never been one to lounge in my pajamas all day, like so many who seem to have adopted that routine while they've been working from home. Perhaps as a retiree I established a daily routine that involved getting completely dressed, and choosing my shoes based upon the day's activity (Garden work? Socks and tie-on sneakers or boots. Walking around the house? Loafers or sandals will do.) But I stayed home and preserved my health and that of my neighbors all spring, and now a few fools have decided science and prudent COVID-19-prevention practices aren't for them, so we basically have to start all over again. They've squandered the work we all did this spring. And we know why. There's no fixing stupid, but MOM says it's a good thing none of those fools from Washington, D.C. are coming to town this summer. Something about throwing bags of dog poop. . .

What am I wearing?
A faux satin no wrinkle long sleeve grey shirt, grey underwear no undershirt, light cream Dockers, black socks and slip on shoes. The belt is black and has a rachet mechanism and not an old fashioned tongue in hole type.
To go directly from these work clothes to being dressed up I put on a solid colorful sport jacket; yellow, rose or actual faux deerskin shirt at night. If its too hot, I stay at home in my boxer briefs and T shirt. :^/

The theme is to limit exposure to the Earth's damaging yellow star.
It only takes a week of sunshine to bleach my hair from strawberry to light blonde.

Gee, I'm in jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. After today I am free of appointments until next Monday. It will be cool at the beach, surfing and hangin' with the chicks, listening to the Beach Boys, sippin' brewskis and talkin' boards and cars with the guys. Unfortunately, none of that stuff exists around here, although I can find lots of rock-climbing freaks and people who like to see how close they can get to bear and bison. I need to set up the outdoor shower for nighttime use on the back patio. It's a luxury in the city to have a secluded yard like this, when most people have neighbors who can see into their yards. Going outside naked is one of the luxuries of childhood (my kids played naked in the little wading pool and in the shower sprinkler thing my mother sent them). But it should also be enjoyed by adults. This shower head attaches to the hose and the water running through the lines now is plenty warm enough.

Growing up in Seattle I remember summer expeditions when we were allowed to sleep in the back yard in a pup tent, but down here the idea of sleeping outside in the heat and with fire ants means Texas children have missed one of the joys of childhood.

Now, Texas children could enact some of the dramatic episodes of cowboy western programs, like the rattle snake crawling into the sleeping bag while you're asleep. Like quick sand and piranhas, this was a staple of television drama when I was a child.
