A documentary called Maggie's War caught my eye. I guess our Maggie has won a few battles as well but this documentary was about James Magahue the most decorated combat soldier in the 82 airborne. When it came time to consider his Congressional Medal of Honor for single handedly taking out a german tank and leading from the front killing 100 germans wounding 131 and capturing 200 he was denied because his company had NO CAUALTIES. His men asked what that had to do with it, they were told rules are rules.

In Virginia, a 6 year old shot his 25 year old teacher in the chest with a 9mm. Things have balanced out by a DC resident killing a 6th grader for breaking into his car. The lord moves in delirious ways.

Re Donuel's honking ditherer: this sounds like a case of mental tunnel vision. I used to be guilty of that at work .... someone would ask me to do something while I was otherwise busy; my complaints about why what they wanted was unwise (often while doing it) were basically the sound of me changing mental gears without using the clutch.

In this suburb of a largish galaxy in an area adjacent to a visible horizon where most of the universe is beyond our visible horizon and they in turn can not see beyond theirs, here on Earth I witnessed self-centeredness in a nutshell today.
A woman coming out of the post office walked excruciatingly slowly across a lane in the parking lot. Owing to the miracle of consciousness a pickup truck stopped to avoid hitting her without her apparent awareness. The pickup truck crept forward as she got in her car and backed up narrowly missing the truck.The truck stopped again as another car ahead of him backed out which prompted the lady behind the truck to honk over and over for not moving. Gradually the car backed out and proceeded forward as the lady still honked at the truck.
In a short while all involved will return to carbon and be recycled in a number of ways, some of which will also be self centered as Andromeda careens toward the Milky Way without awareness.

I'm letting go of my dark matter origin theory of the solid debris from the matter-antimatter annihilation. Now I don't think most of the M and anti M did not even annihilate. The anti matter flows into the past while our matter goes to our future in a symmetrical fashion.

We're pretty close to that temperature here in North Texas. It started out at 43 degrees when I got up this morning and just went downhill from there. It's under 10^o now. It's so cold that the next door neighbor and I agreed that the dogs won't be out in the yard waiting at the fence to get their morning treat. We'll do something later in the day - maybe. It's a ritual that the dogs love, rain or shine.

I have a shop name "painted by god" for my gem opal or volcanic glass stones that are free-standing, framed, or on pedestals. They resemble land and seascape photos. I have a dozen works completed now. Several odd pieces are cats, fish, and people.

Whole polished stones make for very expensive 'paint'.

Yes, and I like waterborne infiltration better than high-altitude   low-opening (HALO) parachute jumps. Bailing out at 30,000 feet and pulling the handle at 50 is hard on the arches!
