Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 23 Sep 21 - 03:56 AM There was a village built of crumbling clay and rotting wood, and it squated under a broiling sun like a sick and mangy animal that wanted to die. This village had a virus shared by its people. It was the germ of squalor, racism and hopelessness. Those who claimed faith had lost their faith. For the faithless the hopeless and the misery laden, there is time, ample time, to engage in one of the pursuits of men. They began to destroy themselves. Every person had their own side, their own facebook page and harbored in the safety of annominity, their hate. Gradually that hate grew openly and expressed itself beyond the digital world into the streets, into the school board meetings and capitols. The only reward was the self satisfaction of owning or disgracing the other side. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 24 Sep 21 - 11:46 PM Some people are becoming so woke they are coming out the racist side. We have tried to revise diversity at some Universites by having one cafe for people of color and a whites only cafe. Cultures do disintegrate into madness when they rebel against diversity as in the tradition of MAGA and progressives in the US. There are other cultures who have dabbled in culture wars like; Yugoslavian Muslim and Christians, Rawanda Hutus and Tutsies, Catholics and Protestants in Ireland, Sunnies and Shiites in Iraq, Hindus and Muslims in Kashmir, Everyone in Afghanistan... I have repeated my angst over the holocaust many times with mixed response and often none. I am typified as mad by a segment of the UK crowd in what could be called antidonualism. I have mentioned civil war segments of American society for over 10 years until now it has become an actual hot/cold civil war. Ethnic purity, tribalism, racism or what ever you want to call it, its surely the reason why Neanderthals dissapeared. I say we have to get high together to get along to go along. So I'll have that drink. I propose an elixer of peace, the COD (cocktail of diversity): one part Oxytocin, one part magic mushroom, four parts Vodka, 2 parts THC, 2 parts red wine, 2 parts mollie and 6 parts strawberry watermelon juice. :^/ |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 29 Sep 21 - 03:34 PM Where to begin with that question: how about Harrison Ford ? He used to be married to a writer (film scripts), and together they had a number of children. I remember him complaining that the kids would not sleep in their own beds at night because they kept coming into their parents' bedroom and piling into bed with the grown-ups. Next thing you know, the marriage has ended in divorce, and he is seeing a very slender young actress named Calista Flockhart. Eventually the two of them get married, and are married today. Now, Calista Flockhart's claim to fame, before this, was playing the lead role in a television 'dramedy' titled Ally McBeal which aired from 1997 to 2002 on the Fox network. The creator of that somewhat notorious series is named: David E. Kelley. According to his Wikipedia article, "Kelley is one of a very few screenwriters to have created shows that have aired on all four top commercial U.S. television networks." Before Ally McBeal, Kelley worked with Steven Bochco on such television series as L. A. Law and Doogie Howser M. D. And he wrote and produced the feature film Lake Placid, in which Brendan Gleeson plays the sheriff who blows up a giant crocodile with a grenade launcher, while a second crocodile is tranquilized and loaded on a flatbed truck, and Betty White is seen feeding the crocodile babies at the end of the film. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 02 Oct 21 - 01:19 PM The desktop photo on my computer has been a view of Mars from the rover. The tire tracks on a sandy dune and the mesa and mountains in the distances are evocative of a route across the old Wild West. I'm thinking it's time to give another photo a chance, so have been searching for large images of my home region. It might make the desktop icons harder to find (that's one reason why Mars works so well). I save large images in a folder that I point my screen saver to so I see these things come up for a little while after the computer has been inactive but not gone to sleep. I've been clearing out a backlog of online stored photos and I should look at those as a possible source of a desktop image also. I keep my phone and camera photos in files on the computer, but they're also backed up to several places and I don't need that many backup photos. And certainly not to pay for a couple of them, so before things renew, time to empty and turn them back to free sites. MOM said to not get rid of the photos of the parties on the screened in front porch, and a handful from the Legion Hovel. I'm guessing she sees some income potential in a few of those. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 07 Oct 21 - 06:06 PM On the more dystopian side of the spectrum, Wired reported on a filmmaker named Michael Usry who was accused of a 1996 murder in Idaho Falls nearly 20 years after the fact — coincidentally the same month that Phoenix police got their break in the Canal Killer investigation. Usry, who was a teenager at the time of the killing, was picked up by police at his doorstep in New Orleans in December 2014, Wired wrote. He was interrogated by an FBI agent and spent a month under suspicion — all because the killer’s genetic code was similar to his father’s, whose DNA sample had been obtained by Ancestry.com. But unlike Miller and DeAngelo, Usry’s DNA test ruled him out as a suspect. His father was one of many false positives that plague familial DNA testing, Wired wrote. “He seemed like a really good candidate,” an Idaho Falls police sergeant told the New Orleans Advocate after Usry was cleared. “But we’ve had that happen before.” Whodathought Idaho would stymie the country from successful familial DNA searchs. Familial DNA searches, in fact, had an 83 percent failure rate in a 2014 British study, Wired wrote. This is part of the reason that many warn against the practice, even as law enforcement agencies master its uses. “The technique is arousing fierce objections from privacy advocates, who maintain that it turns family members into genetic informants without their knowledge or consent,” Ellen Nakashima wrote in The Washington Post in 2008, long before the popularity of genealogy sites exploded. Since then, Wired reported, Maryland and the District of Columbia have banned familial DNA searches, while the method is regulated in several other states, including California, where police used it to track down the Golden State Killer suspect. “You allow that low-quality potential evidence to start being searched in these unregulated databases,” Stephen Mercer, a former public defender who helped pass the ban on familial search in Maryland, told The Post. “You’re casting a wide net of suspicion over many, many people.” The use of genetic websites in the hunt for the Golden State Killer also led investigators to misidentify a potential suspect last year, according to court records obtained by the Associated Press on Friday. The daughter of a 73-year-old Oregon City man said authorities swabbed her father for DNA in a nursing home without her knowledge. Aware that their millions of customers don’t necessarily want to inform on their relatives, some genealogy companies actively resist handing over data to police, STAT wrote this week. 23andMe, one of the earliest and most popular DNA search companies, has refused all law enforcement requests, the outlet wrote. Ancestry has, too — at least since 2014, when police used its database to erroneously accuse Usry of the 1996 Idaho Falls murder. However, the California investigators did not use either of those sites to find the family of the Golden State Killer suspect. Rather, they reportedly ran their old evidence through GEDmatch, a relatively small, free service that allows users to upload and analyze their DNA sequences. “We understand that the GEDmatch database was used to help identify the [suspected] Golden State Killer,” the company said in a statement. “Although we were not approached by law enforcement or anyone else about this case or about the DNA, it has always been GEDmatch’s policy to inform users that the database could be used for other uses.” It’s precisely those other uses that now, after the sensational break in a 40-year-old serial killer case, excite and alarm so many people. “I think it’s revolutionary,” Richard Shelby, a former Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department detective who hunted the Golden State Killer in the 1970s, told The Post after this week’s arrest. “If criminals out there know they can be tracked down this way, they are going to have to try to not leave their DNA at the scene, and that’s nearly impossible,” he said. “It’s one of the best crime-fighting tools to come in a long, long time, we are paeticularly interested in a man named Mike.” Justin Jouvenal, Drew Harwell and Tom Jackman contributed to this |
