Ric Ocasek, front man for The Cars, has passed away.

This is Monday, and he was found in his home yesterday, so I guess it has been in the media overnight -- just read it this morning.

It is almost twenty years since the passing of Benjamin Orr, with whom his close musical partnership laid the foundation for The Cars. And I was sad for him last year on learning that his marriage, of over twenty-five years, had ended, I thought: he will not take this very well.

I recall reading, before they separated, that his former wife Paulina Porizkova and he, used to be labelled "Beauty and the Beast," and that Ocasek would playfully turn and say to his wife:

"It's okay, honey, I don't think you're a beast."

I didn't realise he was that old when the Cars first charted..

A quick Wiki read says he was in folkish bands before that...

Now I can't remember if I saw them at a UK gig or not,
it's so long ago...

Latest news:
death has been ruled natural causes.
His heart, mostly,
and hardening of the arteries;
also chronic pulmonary complications
(was he a smoker?).

It was separated spouse Porizkova who found his body --
that's sad.

But goodness, he managed to have a long, happy, successful life
in what is a brutal business,
and all the social-media comments from those who knew him
agree that he was loving and lovable, and will be much missed.
