I remember a long time ago seeing Roy present a series? may have only been a one off of folk song on the telly.
I can recall him singing "No, sir no" vividly.
At the time I was working in various parts of the UK including Northern Ireland so probably may have seen it anywhere.
I have never watched television much at home.
There are people out there who are far more adapt than me at finding this sort of stuff so go to it!

I saw Roy along with Martin Carthy and Maddie Prior on a BBC religious programme one Sunday morning many years ago, curiously Roy was appearing at my local folk club [ Beadshaw ] the same night, I spoke to Roy about and he told me the songs really hand nothing to do with religion but the good old BBC wouldn't broadcast it on a Sunday unless it had a religious context.

I remember it well, it was in the early 70's. i think it was a Tuesday night.
It was a programme that included Derek & Dorothy Elliott plus Dave Burland I believe. Dave will remember it I'm sure.
    Roy attempted to teach the viewers the song "No Sir No", but sung in what he said was "The Lydian Mode" with Dorothy joining him at the last part. I was fascinated by how different the tune sounded. He kept saying "It is the same tune, but sung in the Lydian mode"
Roy also sang The Grinders Hardship.

Two weeks later Roy was booked at our club The Masons Arms in Rotherham on the Thursday. I had a 1 to 1 session with him for about 40 minutes but the 'modes' were flying over my head. He did a terrific night; it was the first time I had seen him 'live'. We booked him many times after that night.
I am sure i have kept Roys recording somewhere.

I have the found the copy of Roy recorded that particular Tuesday night; it is surprisingly OK when you consider the equipment that we had then & the years in between, though it it is poor by todays more clinical standards. I find the tune still intrigues me. Much water under the bridges since then.

Well jugmws would be interesting in hearing what you have.
Always admired Roy's singing, had some interesting debates with him re politics and socialism with both small and big p & s.
Thought his stuff with Tony Benn was magical.
Last time we met was at the Welly (the Wilsons' club) and what a great night! Thankfully I recorded it (for me alone but available to the estate) and have since enjoyed it over again more than once.

Mick was good to his word - thanks - much as I recall it.

It would be really good if anyone had some movie footage - was VHS around in 1974? And even more to the point could anyone afford it?

1974 ?
They were introduced in America in 1976 as I remember (In my job I used to deal 'across the pond' & was persuaded to order one for when they came over here). We waited 18 months & it it took 2.1/2 years to pay for, but the freedom it gave us was marvellous.
Pity VHS won the 'war' because Betamax was far superior, though it had a shorter recording time. 25/26 years later it was dead.
