As not mentioned here yet I thought I had better post something.

The National Dialect Festival 2019 will take place Friday 18th - Sunday 20th October 2019 at The Savoy Hotel, Queen's Promenade, Blackpool, FY2 9SJ.

Talks, Competitions, Entertainment.

For details of registration & accommodation package please contact the Secretary on lancsocsecretary@gmail.com.

Events are free of charge and open to non-residents.

Friday night is concert time and Caffrey/McGurk/Madge will be among those performing.
Mr Sid Calderbank will be at the helm as the chairperson of the Lancashire Society.

Saturday has the competitions and all is in the spirit of friendship, common interest in dialect and good humour.

So to summarise, come and be entertained for free.

Robin (who got co-opted onto the committee by Sid somehow).

As for dialect poets, I think Edwin Waugh from Lancashire was very good, as is Raymond Reed from Northumberland.

Sounds good but I'm at a wedding that day. Bride is Lancastrian, don't know about him. I'm a Norfolker but have long forgot what little I could mimic.
