Impeachment is analogous to an indictment. Removal from office requires a trial based on the bill of impeachment. It takes place in the Senate, which, if the impeachment is upheld, decides on the penalty.

Rats trying to leave the country are being arrested at airports, and interesting stories about their meddling in politics to try to influence profits in (where else) - Ukraine are causing some blow-back to a Texas GOP former congressman (Sessions) who was unelected in 2018 so has moved to a district he thinks would be better to win. Then this comes up. Good! It seems they promised him lots of donations if he would try to get rid of the US Ambassador to Ukraine who was apparently too good at her job. (The story was heard this morning on NPR).

From over here on the sidelines, I am hoping that the evidence is strong enough to convince enough Republicans in the senate that it is not a good political bet to back Trump as a winner. Sometimes the fear of mud sticking is enough to flip the politicians into self preservation mode.
