I can't think of many other present-day traditional artists who capture the tenderness/cruelty of man, and the glory/pitilessness of nature, with the same clarity and power.

he was in our town recently with the furrow collective - all talented musicians and he had to 'take his turn' there is something unusual, understated, quiet, quirky and compelling about AR. you have to wait but it is very much worth it.

Alasdair and band were AMAZING in Todmorden last night - go and see them on the rest of the tour if you can (Bristol tonight, then London, Brighton, Sheffield)

Was at a singaround the other day and someone played an Alasdair Roberts song. At least two other people knew almost all the words. Seems like after two decades of being a folk outsider he is finally breaking through into the mainstream folkie consciousness.
