I thought I'd share the info I found on this song:
The earliest source I found was a 1956 SARG 45 recording image that lists the writer as Al Urban, an early Rockabilly star. (link to image below)

Here's some more info, specifically on Al Urban and his other songs:

LOOKING FOR MONEY
(Al Urban 1956)

Staggerin' Willie down on his knees,
Lookin' for something out in the weeds.
Here comes Ruby with a big black car,
"Staggerin' Willie, what you lookin' for?"

(Chorus:) I'm lookin' for money; I'm lookin' for money,
I'm lookin' for money but I can't find none nowhere.

Staggerin' Willie grabbed his ax,
Went into the house and he started to hack.
He chopped up the porch and he chopped up the steps,
Sayin', "Money, oh, money, I'll find you yet." (Chorus)

Staggerin' Willie where did he go?
That's him diggin' in that deep hole.
Here come Ruby with a big black car,
"Staggerin' Willie, what you lookin' for?" (Chorus)

(Repeat verse 2 with chorus, repeat verse 1 with chorus, and then repeat chorus.)

I also wrote another verse ....

Stagerrin' Willie, went for the gun,
Hopped on a horse and away he run,
Clippin' and a cloppin' on out through the corn,
Screamin' and a shoutin' "My money's gone!"
    (Chorus)
