Subject: Seeking repertoire suggestions... From: GUEST,BlackAcornUK Date: 19 Oct 19 - 06:21 PM After many years as a listener and promoter of folk music, I've recently started to tentatively sing myself, at singarounds in Hebden Bridge and nearby. I'm most enjoying/getting the best response from songs that are easy for others to pick up and sing along with - Thousands or More, Pleasant and Delightful, Hard Times of Old England, etc. Does anyone have tips for other songs in a similar vein that I could try and add to my repertoire? Thanks in advance...! |

Subject: RE: Seeking repertoire suggestions... From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 19 Oct 19 - 06:36 PM Find songs that suit your voice and vocal range best (and that you enjoy singing - the enjoyment is infectious). Ask others for their candid opinion too. If you can get hold of it (or ask your library) Roy Palmer - Everyman's Book of English Country Songs is a good source for chorus songs. |

Subject: RE: Seeking repertoire suggestions... From: Jack Campin Date: 20 Oct 19 - 04:43 PM I have been to Hebden Bridge several times. It feels like a little garrison of Scottish civilization surrounded by tribal Bojostanis - unusually relaxed and tolerant, and the lesbian capital of the UK. So, you can do things you might not get away with elsewhere. |
