Subject: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Donuel Date: 13 Nov 19 - 12:00 PM Russia has wanted to take over Crimea which is a warm water port of Ukraine since Catherine the great Recently Russia annexed the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol as federal subjects of Russia. Russia and 17 UN member states officially recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation, while Ukraine and 114 other UN member states support Ukraine's territorial integrity. Russia also wants a clear land path through Ukrain to Crimea. They are currently in another bloody war over this territory. Russia wants Trump to get rid of sanctions against Russia for annexing Crimea. Russia wants Trump to stop helping Ukraine militarily and humilliate Ukraine. The impeachment hearing is not about Ukraine per se but is about Trump abusing power by wanting to get the new Ukrainian President to publicly announce that there are investigations into the criminality of the Bidens and Clintons on CNN btw Russia does not want Chernobyl back. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Donuel Date: 13 Nov 19 - 12:05 PM If the Ukraine President would not go along with being put in a public box, Trump would not give hundreds of millions of dollars to fight against Russia which Congress already voted to give to Ukraine. crazy huh? |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: keberoxu Date: 13 Nov 19 - 12:08 PM Ought to be some bad joke about the Crimean War and Florence Nightingale. Fortunately for you, I can't come up with one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Donuel Date: 13 Nov 19 - 03:11 PM When the Ukrainian government became aware that military aid was actually being held in limbo on Sept 1 the suspension of aid was lifted soon thereafter and the Ukrainian President did not appear on CNN to announce Trump's favor of investigations of Bidens and Clintons. So if there was a crime it was an attempted crime in the final analysis. Republicans want to sell attempted crime as no big deal. Florence had abhorence for gory bloody war Her long dress was soaked from all the blood on the floor but keb what does that have to do with Crimera? |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: keberoxu Date: 13 Nov 19 - 04:07 PM The Crimean War was what brought Florence Nightingale to the public's attention. She was known as The Lady with the Lamp; she was making the rounds in the wards of soldier patients. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Steve Shaw Date: 13 Nov 19 - 05:38 PM The people of Crimea overwhelmingly want to belong to Russia. Lest we forget. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Mrrzy Date: 14 Nov 19 - 08:52 AM Um, not what I hear. Also why was it *the* Ukraine? I know why it isn't any more... |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Steve Shaw Date: 14 Nov 19 - 09:03 AM In an unofficial referendum held in 2014, A large majority of Crimeans supported joining Russia. From wiki: "At the most recent Crimean parliamentary election on 14 September 2014, United Russia won 70 of the 75 seats in the State Council of Crimea based on just over 70% of the vote...turnout was over 53% which compared well with elections in other regions of Russia.... United Russia is also the leading party in the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol having won 22 of the 24 seats at the last election....United Russia maintained its position as the most supported political party across Crimea at the Russian legislative election on 18 September 2016, achieving 72.8% of the vote.At 49.1%, turnout was slightly ahead of that for Russia as a whole which was only 47.8%. At the 2018 Russian presidential election, Vladimir Putin secured 92% of the vote in Crimea compared to 77% across Russia as a whole." Um, looks like you heard wrong. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: bobad Date: 14 Nov 19 - 09:40 AM Under the Soviet Union Crimea was ethnically cleansed and repopulated with ethnic Russians, small wonder that they voted in favour of Russia which, by the way, has such a stellar reputation for conducting fair elections (insert sarcasm emoji). |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Steve Shaw Date: 14 Nov 19 - 10:26 AM I have no dog in this fight. I just wanted to point out the fact that most residents of Crimea want to belong to Russia. And as for free and fair elections, they are out of vogue the world over. Nothing special here. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Mrrzy Date: 14 Nov 19 - 12:05 PM If they wanted to be Russian why fight the annexation? |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Mr Red Date: 15 Nov 19 - 09:58 AM Ought to be some bad joke about the Crimean War and Florence Nightingale. Maybe something about using a pie-chart to carve up the territory? (because she invented them) |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: robomatic Date: 18 Nov 19 - 07:16 PM I'll have to bookmark this thread for the next time Mr. Shaw attacks Israel for its so-called 'occupation.' |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Steve Shaw Date: 18 Nov 19 - 08:54 PM Carry on. Nothing I've said should be taken to mean that I ever approve of Russia's shenanigans. I don't and I never have. You will see no such opinion expressed in any of my posts here. Yes, ethnic cleansing. Bad news that, but the facts are as I've stated. And remember Negev. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Donuel Date: 19 Nov 19 - 08:44 AM For the record, I am only beggining to learn about Ukrain outside of Chernobyl. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: ollaimh Date: 19 Nov 19 - 08:02 PM the people of the ukraine were over whelmingly interested in joining russia because the ussr ethnically cleaned the native goths tatars and others. and settled russians there. more importantly nato had no business in the ukraine in the first place. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: ollaimh Date: 19 Nov 19 - 08:03 PM correction eastern ukraine and crimea were ethnically cleansed by the soviets. so much so that there used to be whole ukrainians speaking cities in siberia |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Acorn4 Date: 21 Nov 19 - 05:21 PM Are we likely to get the truth about whether the Bidens were up to shenan igans or not? |
Subject: RE: BS: Ukraine for beginners From: Mossback Date: 21 Nov 19 - 05:56 PM You've got the truth - the Biden bit is a Republishit fever dream & conspiracy theory and has been proven so. Go sit in the corner with Nunes & Jordan and the other professional bullshitters. |
