Well, unless our Guest returns with more info, I'm wondering if this was just a wind-up. It's a lot similar to some other attempts to send us on a wild goose chase with little to no information, so at this stage I am just keeping an eye on the thread and hoping to be proven wrong.

I'd rather have faith in the goodness of people's souls until proven otherwise.

It has vaudville/burlesque element of 1920-30...it also has a 1940-50's comedy aspect.

Well, first guess is just about every pop song ever written, including now. LOL

However, in the spirit of Mudcat and our wish to pin down hopeless causes, the usual questions apply:

1. Style of music?
2. Feeling of the music, e.g. sad, haunting, happy, wistful, or even angry, or whatever?
3. Any stand-out musical instruments or solos?
4. Any vocal or musical harmonies or interesting musical arrangements?
5. Sung by male or female or group of males/females//mixed?
6. Where you heard the song - radio/CD/live etc. If live, where/when, performed by (see question #5).
What country is the singer likely to be from?
What country are you from or would you have heard the song in?
Anything memorable about the chorus?
Anything else you can remember would be really helpful.

Believe me, if anyone here knows it they will let you know, but given the extreme lack of usable search terms I think we need something more to go on.

If it is necessary, you might be able to hum the tune on the phone to someone, or if you are able to turn the tune - or a part of the tune - into musical notation or ABC notation and can post it here we might have some more info to work with.

The Chorus goes something like this:
And I-I I want to ...... (4 syllables)
and .... (rhymes with previous)
(one more line)

And you-oo you wanna ... ... (4 syllables)
and ... (rhymes with previous)
(one more line)

~And you'll (few syllables rhyming with -eer) ... when I (word rhyming with -eer)

The wrong lyrics I was hearing was "you'll find me right here ... when I disappear" but I can't for the life of me remember the song title, band, and the real lyrics. I hope somebody knows what song is stuck in my head. It had to have been billboard top 25 or top 100 a couple decades ago
