Subject: BS: Most embarrassing auto correct From: Dave the Gnome Date: 06 Dec 19 - 10:21 AM I did a search for Peggy Seeger and it corrected me to pegging seeker. I didn't know such things happened until I followed one of the links. Warning. Do to try the search in public! Another word bites the dust. I wonder what happens when an innocent girl guide wants a video on pegging out her tent? :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Most embarrassing auto correct From: meself Date: 06 Dec 19 - 01:53 PM Reminds me of when I was teaching, and all this here internet stuff was new - relatively speaking. The girls' phys. ed. teacher came into the staff room looking pale and shaken, and dropped into a big chair. She stared blankly for a moment, then said: "I just did an internet search for 'cheerleader uniforms' ... " ...... |
Subject: RE: BS: Most embarrassing auto correct From: Big Al Whittle Date: 06 Dec 19 - 02:13 PM I remeber the late Terry Wogan got presented with a plague for his charity work for Arthiritis Care, instead of a plaque. That made it all the way to the front page of the group magazine. |
Subject: RE: BS: Most embarrassing auto correct From: Newport Boy Date: 06 Dec 19 - 05:29 PM A few years ago I gave a talk about unaccompanied singing. I referred to a male trio I had heard in the 1940s, but couldn't identify. A Welsh speaker in the audience handed me a note at the end, which said that the group I described was Triawd y Coleg. I googled them and got a few hits, including a photo. Thinking that maybe Google wasn't very strong in Welsh, I tried the English translation she helpfully provided. I can tell you now that 'The College Threesome' doesn't come up with any music-related hits! One member of the trio was Meredydd Evans who became one of the leading authorities on Welsh folk music. |
