Subject: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST Date: 14 Jan 20 - 03:01 PM Any amount of googling how to convert chordpro format to 2 line format just seems to yields hits on how to convert TO chordpro. I think chordsmith may do this but have wasted over an hour trying to find out how? |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Stanron Date: 14 Jan 20 - 04:00 PM what is two line format? |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST Date: 14 Jan 20 - 04:01 PM The chords above the words |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Stanron Date: 14 Jan 20 - 04:34 PM According to this page; https://www.chordpro.org/chordpro/ChordPro-File-Format-Specification.html chords go above the lines on printout. Does this help? |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 14 Jan 20 - 04:39 PM ChordSmith works fine So do others |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 14 Jan 20 - 04:41 PM In chordsmith either paste the chordpro format uint the text area and then go to convert. And it just works. You can also do files in batches |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 15 Jan 20 - 06:18 AM Seems to be similar to Chordalign, which I wrote for the special needs of Mudcatters. It can be used with either brackets or parentheses around the chord symbols. I would not call myself a "Pro" in that respect, though. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST Date: 16 Jan 20 - 04:55 AM I have tried and tried pasting text into chordpro and nothing happens. I paste it hit convert (from chordpro) nothing. I try highlighting hitting start nothing happens. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 09:04 AM Try this - Chordsmith - chordpro format to two line If you download chordsmith you may need to install Java on your machine to be able to run the .jar file that runs it. But it just works... |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 09:09 AM The link is to a screen record from my machine having just downloaded it and run it. No configuration or anything needed |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 09:36 AM This is how chordpro works... I downloaded chordpro and all the preferences are blank and I have done nothing to customise anything. Pasted the text in and pressed preview Chordpro to two line format I think I prefer Chordsmith - it has some other features and you can save as text. The preview in chordpro is in the two line format and you can create a PDF but it depends what you want. Chordsmith has some nice things with chord diagrams etc and when you save a file it saves it in two line format as a text file which means you can put it anywhere you want Got to the love the screenrec program I made this with. never tried it before and WELL impressed! |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 10:26 AM The only possibility that crosses my mind is that your User permissions on the machine specifically exclude pretty much everything but if that was the case I would doubt you could do anything on the machine in real terms let alone install the program! |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST Date: 16 Jan 20 - 04:11 PM Would love to know where I am going wrong here: https://secure.screenrec.com/bv2uphQFGE https://secure.screenrec.com/bv2uphQFGE |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST Date: 16 Jan 20 - 04:11 PM Is that you Nick Blair? |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST Date: 16 Jan 20 - 04:14 PM Just tried Chordsmith and nothing happens there when I hit convert. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 04:18 PM It is indeed Let me guess... Trevor? |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST Date: 16 Jan 20 - 04:26 PM The very same. Where am I going wrong Nick? |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 04:26 PM Or David? There is a fundamental difference between a traditional bracket ie ( and a square bracket [ If you replace the brackets with the correct ones ie [ ] rather than ( ) it will work perfectly |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 16 Jan 20 - 05:20 PM The round one is called parenthesis, plural parentheses. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 05:44 PM Depends where you come from... COLON CLOSE ROUND BRACKET (he smiled parenthetically) |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 16 Jan 20 - 06:08 PM Indeed, and on your ideas about linguistics. Anyway, Chordalign accepts those round things as well. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 16 Jan 20 - 06:38 PM Hmmm. ‘Round’. As in ‘circular’? Wouldn’t they be ‘those arc-like things’ if one were being pedantic? And Chordalign is very good too. I haven’t changed my view since 31 March 2014 when I commented positively on it last time on the aforementioned thread above. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 17 Jan 20 - 04:16 PM Nick, my intention was not to correct you or to comment on your posting at all, but to hint to our anonymous Trevor that his problem may be solved, in case that he did not understand my message from 15 Jan 20 - 06:18 AM to that effect. I am neither being pedantic nor fishing for compliments, just trying to help. Nevertheless, thanks for the positive comments. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 17 Jan 20 - 04:20 PM I was being 100% lighthearted ?? |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 17 Jan 20 - 05:05 PM I assume your "??" came from something like "☺☺" (remember that the Preview page now displays Unicode, but the database refuses to eat it). So was I. Misunderstandings must be clarified, that's all. |
Subject: RE: Convert from Chordpro From: Nick Date: 17 Jan 20 - 06:04 PM Good point. I couldn’t remember intentionally typing the question marks and thought I’d missed the exclamation marks. I have enough of a problem typing on my iPad anyway. Single finger typing |
