Subject: Obit: Bob Winquist From: Vic Smith Date: 22 Jan 20 - 06:11 AM I have only heard of the death of Bob Winquist today when Pete Cooper put up the notice on his funeral in London yesterday. He was a lovely gentle, very intelligent, profoundly political man and a totally outstanding musician who was equally highly regarded in classical, bluegrass and folk music circles. We booked him several times to play in Lewes, usually in the company of Rosie Davis and Joe Locker. He was also a regular visitor to our area in the times when he spent days giving fiddle lessons in Richard Spong & Charlotte Oliver's house. I loved the gentle burr of his speaking voice which combined North American and English inflections |
