Just heard on the radio whilst coming home on a bus that Monty Python star Terry Jones passed away last night aged 77, his family were with him at the time.

An absolute genius writer and actor, RIP Terry.

he always seemed like a genuinely good guy. he directed 'life of brian' - a great film he could be very proud of.

Really, so much sprang from the fertile mind of Terry Jones which gave immense pleasure to me and countless others, that I can only say
"Thank You, Mr. Jones! RIP"

(I did like this quote from John Cleese:
"I shall remember him as Mr Creosote. He is so funny in it and it's one of the funniest things we did. So I shall think of him exploding.")

On the radio in Germany they finished the obit with "Always look on the bright side of life"!

I have seen a lot of travel documentaries from Michael Palin but only one from Terry Jones, RIP, which I thought he did very well; however, I don't like Monty Python, frankly.

Not just a funny man, He wrote some very subtle little fables. I remember at a songwriting workshop at a festival Anne Lister told us one of these from a book of his and invited us to think about it as making a song, and I was prompted to do so:

A Sailor's Dream
A sailor, a sailor so far from his home
On a misty green island was cast all alone.
And he built him a fire, and he built him a boat
Home again, home again, someday I'll float
But he never came home, no he never came homw,
He never came home from the sea.

For in searching the island he found a great tree,
