Subject: Lyr Req: Two Sisters Nonsense version
From: Steve Gardham

Hi
Here's a request for someone like Jon Lighter or Mick Pearce.
In Cazden's Catskills book they mention a nonsense version of Child 10 The Two Sisters, with title The Three Sisters. I've found 3 or 4 versions with this title but not what I would call obviously nonsense.
Probably an American piece and possibly a minstrel adaptation.

Any light from Lighter would be welcome.

Ask Judy Cook - she collects versions of the Two Sisters.

Thanks for Judy's contact details, Susan.
I've already answered my own question now. There are several versions in Child itself in the endnotes to version 10L, actually dating from the early 18th century. Good early examples of burlesque which is what I'm looking for.

Many thanks to those who have helped.

Well, there's always The Cruelish Sister, by the inimitable Sadie Damascus.
