Subject: Hull Maritime Concert 7th march From: Steve Gardham Date: 11 Feb 20 - 10:38 AM Hull Maritime Museum having closed for 3 years for refurbishment we have moved our popular maritime themed concerts to Hull Minster and the first one in that venue is Saturday 7th March, 11 till 4. The earlier start is to give some youngsters a chance to strut their stuff. Our usual concert format will start at 1 p.m. Ellie Pollard will be performing earlier. The new venue has different acoustics to the Courtroom and as this is our first time in the Minster (without PA) we are keeping mostly to the larger groups as solo singers tend to not carry well enough in there. Performing will be Spare Hands, Hull Folk Collective, Hull Chantey Crew, The Smugglers, Fiddler's Elbow, Paul and Liz Davenport, Ralph and Helene Marks. As ever all for free. Apologies to all those who were turned away from our last concert in November. We did put out a warning to get there early as new safety restrictions meant we could only have 80 audience in at any one time unlike the 150 or so we managed at previous concerts. However there will be no such restrictions at the Minster as we can easily get a couple of hundred in. Event under the auspices of registered charity Folk in Hull. |

Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Concert 7th march From: GUEST,Malcolm Storey Date: 12 Feb 20 - 09:05 AM Hi Steve Been away from Hull for over 25 years now. Is the Minster what we used to call Holy Trinity? Might be that we will still be jetlagged (anno domini) but you never know. Regarding solo voices and large halls or whatever I recall Fred Jordan completely ignoring the mikes at a City Hall concert and being heard perfectly! Happy days. |

Subject: RE: Hull Maritime Concert 7th march From: Steve Gardham Date: 12 Feb 20 - 04:17 PM Unfortunately we don't have Fred with us any more. Yes, Holy trinity is now Hull Minster and it gets used for all sorts of wonderful phantasmagoria, including beer festivals. |
