An interesting ten minutes on the song, dwelling a bit on its theme and background, on Essential Classics on 14 February (about an hour and ten minutes in). Big mention for Simon and Garfunkel, but none for Martin Carthy...

I was in the shower listening on my JBL Clip 3 speaker, so I may have missed odd bits among the splashing. Give it a listen if you can.

Well I have an electric Mira shower and the Clip 3 Bluetooth speaker cost me £39.99 at Argos. I can just about manage Lidl Prosecco.

By the way, get one. The sound is amazing and the thing is totally waterproof. 12 hours on one charge. You can even pause what you're listening to on BBC Sounds and it cares not a jot for your wet, soapy hands. It has a clip to hang it up in the shower on the little hook that Mrs Steve hangs her shower cap on.

What do YOU do, unhook the tin bath in the pantry once a fortnight and have a soak in front of the three-bar electric fire with a tin of Mackesons?

...If I'm not going out, I only wash my face in the sink of my small studio flat; if I go out, I always shower (I have a bath but have only used it about once a year)...and will certainly do so if and when I make my first visit to Scarborough this summer..?

As a kid, I bathed quite a few times in used bathwater - probably sometimes after a Ribena.

By the way, my reading of Scarborough Fair is that it is meant to be performed as a duet, where first the man then the lady plays very hard to get; and, for what it is worth, solo in folk clubs, I have performed it by giving the second part my best falsetto.

A few of you blokes rattle on about Whitby every now and then. Well there's a chance I might be able to get there occasionally from now on without breaking the bank. I'll keep you posted (and bring my harmonicas). Anyway, I love it when my thread gets drifted, but did anyone else here hear Radio 3 clip?

Just did, thanks SS and FH - thought the instrumental was nice but it could/should have been with an English cittern rather than a Spanish guitar.
