As I was going on the road on the way to Sligo fair
I met a girl with a smile and her beautiful nut-brown hair
I says to her "says my dear now will you tell me so if this is the way to Sligo Town
As if I didn't know

The sweetest Coleen she was shiever? miles and mile around
Quite modesty she answered me, her eyes upon the ground
She says that she it is the same, the town just down below
Would yous be going ther said I
As if I didn't know

And so together, we took the road and the sun was in the sky
But never the sun in Heaven shone like the sparkle in her eye
Today I whispered in her ears, so very soft and low,
She actually ??? than me? As if I didn't know

Subject: Lyr Add: SLIGO FAIR (Alasdair Gillies)

From the link posted above, here's what I heard. I made a few minor changes to the parts of the song you weren't asking specifically about just to make it a little more precise.

SLIGO TOWN
As recorded by Alasdair Gillies on "All My Life's a Circle" (1983)

As I was going along the road on the way to Sligo fair,
I met a girl with a smiling eye and beautiful nut-brown hair.
I says to her, says I, "My dear, now will you tell me so,
If this be the way to Sligo Town?"
As if I didn't know.

The sweetest coleen she was, was she, for miles and miles around.
Right modestly she answered me, her eyes upon the ground.
She says, says she, "It is the same; the town's just down below."
"And will youse be going there?" says I,
As if I didn't know.

And so together, we took the road and the sun was in the sky,
But never a sun in heaven shone like the sparkle in her eye.
Such tales I whispered in her ears, so very soft and low,
Says she, "Actually, a dear Lutheran, me,"
As if I didn't know.

Second-last line -
"Ah, sure", says she "ye're deludering me".
For what it's worth.

Ross, I'm not sure if there's another version but I really don't hear "Ah sure" there on the YouTube video on the first post of this page. I feel pretty confident it starts with

Says she, actually....

After that, not as confident, but I'm pretty confident in those words

Or do you know that version as the way you sing it?
