reported that people in wuhan are or were square dancing in their homes during the quarantine

DANCING AT WUHAN tune dancing at whitsun

We dance to the music that everyone loves
We dance with our masks and our goggles and gloves
And we stare down the virus we should be fearful of
And still they are dancing in Wuhan

We dance to fiddles and banjos, guitars
It was somebody’s music but now it is ours
We’ll dance to the rainbows we’ll dance to the stars
And still they are dancing in Wuhan

We open the windows to let in the air
And call to the people below don’t despair
If you hear the music dance with us down there
And still they are dancing in Wuhan

We learned from our ancestors life can be gone
In the blink of an eye in the length of a song
For the sake of our children we will keep dancing on
And still they are dancing in Wuhan

So bow to your partner and then do si do
Alamand left and heel to toe
If our lives should be shortened this is how we will go
And still they are dancing in Wuhan

For me, this is a remarkable day for
Mudcat / Max technology.

Thank you,
Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Like Dick Tracy cartoons.... the technological and the trad weave a brillant future for folk.

Yes, I offered the last verse, so it’s a song by committee then.
I thought it was a good rendition overall, though slightly menacing, presumably deliberately.

Thanks, I think.
I shouldn't harp on details, but 1) I don't think your phrasing brings out the rhyme of "please" and "disease", and 2) Jerry is not the same person as Gerry.

When some are dying
Should we be trying
To joke about Wuhan?
I daresay some say you can....

Who will inspire us
To sing of the virus?
Won't somebody please
Write a tune for this disease?

What could be finer
Than quarantine in Chiner?
Who will write wittily
Of contagion in Italy?

Ideally 20 second songs we can sing while washing our hands?

From my vantage point near the American epicenter of the pandemic, I'm just wondering if there are any promising new (or old) songs about coronavirus, whether COVID-19 (ideal) or SARS (okay) or whatever.
