Quite a while back I heard that Jack Ruby (the killer of Lee Harvey Oswald) bought his nightclub in Dallas, Texas from Bob Wills. Can anyone out there verrify that and possibly add information to my querie.

Thanks,

Art Thieme

My God Art! You're probably right! I just KNEW that Bob Wills had something to do with JFK's killing. I've just played "Bubbles in My Beer" backwards after drinking a sixpack, and I swear I can hear Tommy Duncan saying "Paul isn't dead, but George has a stomache ache".

By the way, Happy New Year Art. You were in my headphones for an hour last night, while I was re-reading "Lonesome Traveller" for the fifth time.

Rick

The answer is; YES. In 1952 Ruby bought the Bob Wills Ranch House with a business partner. They paid 3700 for it. Ruby was also running his strip club (the Silver Spur) in those days, and the Bob Wills club never made a go of it for Ruby. He sold it within the same year he bought it.

Thanks so much for the details. That fleshes out what had been just a stray bit of trivia I hAD picked up somewhere.

Rick, Happy New Year to you too---and to all here at Mudcat.
