Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Come Lay Your Bundle Down By Tommy Sands From: GUEST,Starship Date: 19 Apr 20 - 07:43 PM I know you're both busy, so I've taken a stab at it. In a few places I went to another performance of the song by a music teacher who seemed to have been reading some lyrics from a lead sheet, so I'm presuming her lyrics are accurate. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fdu3MmstmY ). BTW, this is a beautiful song, and thanks for opening that door. The song has four stanzas, each followed by the same refrain. The title is 'Welcome Here Kind Stranger', written by Tommy Sands. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Welcome Here Kind Stranger (by Tommy Sands) Well, you're welcome here kind stranger And won't you stay a while I know that you're a rover And ramble a lonely mile But friendship and good company Can ease a weary mind You're welcome here kind stranger For to lay your bundle down CHORUS Come lay your bundle down Come lay your bundle down You're welcome here kind stranger For to lay your bundle down And do you come from a far-off land Across the rolling sea To where our sons and daughters sailed In sorrow and in grief And maybe you're the child of one Who's left this lovely shore Good friend and kind relation You're welcome home once more CHORUS Here's a song you can take along For the morning sun to shine A story too for your journey to Shorten the wintertime We'll fill the cup and we'll/as we(??) drink a sup That good fortune will abound You're welcome here kind stranger For to lay your bundle down CHORUS They say the whole world is changing And that we are changing too To bid a soul the time of day It seems so hard to do But what's the worth of a gold(en??) purse That can hold ten thousand pounds If there is no place for a fond embrace And to lay your bundle down CHORUS Come lay your bundle down Come lay your bundle down You're welcome here kind stranger For to lay your bundle down RPT CHORUS NB The double question marks indicate where I'm not sure of the lyric(s) so I guessed. |

Subject: RE: Req/ADD Come Lay Your Bundle Down (Tommy Sands) From: cnd Date: 22 Apr 20 - 10:37 PM Solid start Starship, thanks for that. I've finally found a patch of free time. For "We'll fill the cup and we'll drink a sup" I heard the first option, and I heard "golden purse" for the second one. |
